We’ll be taking a look at the NBA game tonight between the Nuggets and Clippers. Will the Nuggets put up a fight or will they be just playing out the string? Will the red-hot Clippers be able to cover this huge number? Read what we have to say on those topics and so much more.
Huge Line in Nuggets/Clippers Tilt
The Clippers will play host to the Nuggets on Monday at 10:35 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds at BetOnline, the Clippers are a mammoth 16.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 215.0. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these Western Conference opponents, the Clippers won two of the first three, and all three games stayed under the total.
Tired and Weary with an Eye on the Finish Line
The Denver Nuggets will be playing their third game in four days, and fourth in six days when they take the court this evening. They’re coming off a 122-111 home win over the Sacramento Kings last night. That game completed a four game in nine day home stand that saw them go 2-2. The Nuggets will finish the season with two road games including tonight, and then at Golden State on Wednesday. Denver has gone over the total in its last three, and eleven of their previous sixteen games. They’ve allowed opponents to average 117.2 points per game, and shoot a robust 50.2% from the field over their last five contests. They’ve also scored 119-points or more in each of their previous three games.
Playoff Scenarios are plentiful for the Clippers
With two games remaining in the regular season, the Clippers can finish anywhere from the #2 to the #6 seed in the Western Conference. All they can do is continue winning and let the chips lie where they may. The Clippers enter tonight having won five in a row, and twelve of their last thirteen games. They’ve seen each of their previous four games stay under the total, allowing an average 89.0 points per contest, and held those opponents to a paltry 38.1% shooting from the field. Tonight will be the finale of a three game in seven day home stand for the Clippers. They’re coming off a 94-86 win over Memphis on Saturday, and it was the first time in twelve games that they scored less than 105-points.
One team (Clippers) is well rested while the other (Nuggets) is not. The Clippers still have plenty to play for while the Nuggets are playing out the proverbial string. The Clippers have played terrific defense in recent games, and the Nuggets have reverted to a matador type of defensive play. I hate to lay this many points in any NBA game, but there’s an exception to every handicapping rule. I’m looking for a blowout win by the home team tonight for one of my NBA picks on Monday.
