The Los Angeles Lakers dropped the first of their back-to-back with Tuesday’s defeat to the Oklahoma City. Will the Lakers bounce back in “The Big Easy” or does betting the ‘total’ have more value here?

They failed to cash as 9 ½-point road dogs. Wednesday’s NBA betting has Mike D’Antoni’s club visiting the New Orleans Hornets, who have seen the OVER collect at a 6-0 mark in their home dates since the All-Star Break.

Lakers, Bryant downed in OKC

Los Angeles was held to a 40.3 percent mark of field shooting in Tuesday’s setback, while never leading throughout the affair. Lakers guard Kobe Bryant put up 30 points, while adding two of his side’s 11 assists in 39 minutes of action.

Los Angeles’ Dwight Howard and Earl Clark united for 27 boards, leading their squad in outrebounding the Thunder, 46-42. Clark added the Lakers’ sole block, while finishing with 13 points for his first double-double in six games.

The duel’s combined 227 points flew above the ‘total’ of 215, moving the OVER to 6-2 in the Lakers’ last eight matchups. Los Angeles drilled 12-of-29 buckets from three-point land, while outscored in paint points, 52-22.

Hornets blow lead at home

New Orleans logged its third loss in four games with Monday’s 105-102 defeat to the Orlando Magic, upset as 8 ½-point home ‘chalk.’ The Hornets saw a 17-point lead erased, outscored in the second half, 69-56.

Hornets mates Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon notched 17 points each, while Davis added 15 boards and four of his squad’s 10 blocks. New Orleans’ Greivis Vasquez notched a team-high eight assists, uniting with Gordon to drain 5-of-13 shots beyond the arc.

The battle’s combined 207 points soared OVER the ‘total’ of 194 ½, with the Hornets allowing Orlando to connect from the floor at a 49.4 percent clip. New Orleans sank 20-of-26 free throws, while edged out in fast break points, 17-9.

Back the UNDER in New Orleans

Los Angeles opened as a two point NBA betting odds favorites at The ‘total’ was first set at 203. Early wagers on New Orleans and the UNDER drove the numbers south to one and 202, respectively.

I am tailing the ‘total’ steam and adding the UNDER to my NBA picks. The Hornets have put up their share of points recently, but the UNDER has gone 4-1 among the last five meetings between these foes on New Orleans’ floor.

December’s matchup at New Orleans Arena saw the Lakers come away with a 103-87 victory, with the Hornets held to 41.2 percent field shooting. Los Angeles may see less octane this time around, with the UNDER cashing at 4-1 in the team’s last five spots played on no rest.

New Orleans has had the OVER collect a sizable clip in recent duels, but the ‘total’ has been set higher here than all but one of the club’s home affairs this year. Look for the foes to fall below the hefty digits, giving a cashed ticket to UNDER backers with some value.
