The New York Knicks may lack their normal defensive intensity in coming off one of their biggest wins in recent memory, as they prepare to take on the Washington Wizards Tuesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the NBA betting odds for this Eastern Conference matchup, with the opening tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden.

Take a look at our predictions for the First Round Playoff Matchups.

Washington has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, as it looks to bounce back from a 107-96 setback to the Boston Celtics as 5.5-point road underdogs Sunday, while going OVER the total for a second consecutive contest.

The Wizards are 18-15 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) during the second half of the season, with the UNDER going 21-12 in those opportunities.

Hottest team in the league

New York has won 12 games in a row, which is currently the league’s longest winning streak, as it picked up an impressive 125-120 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder as 7.5-point road underdogs Sunday.

The Knicks are 7-1 SU and 4-4 ATS as home favorites of 9.5 to 12 points during the 2012-13 NBA season, while the OVER is 6-2 in that situation.

Could the Knicks beat the Heat in a playoff series?

Money-making situation

NBA handicappers may have a hard time backing the Wizards due to their current five-game losing streak on the road, but they’ve covered all six of their games when getting 9.5 to 12 points away from the nation’s capital this season.

Washington may have a hard time keeping its perfect mark in that particular role Tuesday, considering it has gone 9-23 ATS in its last 32 overall meetings in this series.

Series domination

There’s no question that the Knicks may land in a flat spot coming off a victory over the Thunder and having a road game against the Chicago Bulls on deck, but it’s hard to ignore that they’ve won nine consecutive home games against the Wizards.

New York has won its last six games against Washington inside this venue by an average of 20.3 points, while the home team is on a 12-4 ATS run in the series.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their NBA picks, as the OVER is 6-2 in the Knicks last eight games versus teams with a losing road record, while the Wizards have climbed above the number in five of seven following a SU loss.

New York shouldn’t have a problem eclipsing the century mark due to averaging 106.2 points over its last five games, while it likely does just enough on the defensive end to prove victorious.
