The New York Knicks haven’t won a playoff series in 13 years, but they stand just a victory away from accomplishing that feat when taking on the Boston Celtics Sunday.

Let’s take a closer look at the NBA betting lines for Game 4 of this Eastern Conference quarterfinal series at the TD Garden, with the opening tip scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

Doing it on the defensive end

New York holds a commanding 3-0 series lead over Boston after picking up a convincing 90-76 victory as 2.5-point road underdogs Friday night, while the UNDER has cashed in all three contests.

The Knicks have held the Celtics to 78 points or less in each matchup of this best-of-seven series, while these two rivals have fallen short of the betting total in their last six overall meetings.

It’s important to note that Sunday’s visitor is 12-6 straight up (SU) and 13-5 against the spread (ATS) after allowing 85 points or less since the start of the regular season.

No life

Boston has virtually shown no life on the offensive end through three games, which isn’t very surprising due to missing point guard Rajon Rondo, who has been out of the lineup since Feb. 13 due to a torn ACL.

Leading scorer Paul Pierce is suffering through a forgettable series, as he’s totaled 16 turnovers in the series—the most by an player in the playoffs thus far.

The Celtics are 4-6 SU and 5-5 ATS when trailing in a playoff series the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 6-4 in that situation.

Carmelo Anthony has never led his team to a series sweep in the NBA playoffs, but he seems focused on accomplishing that task—leading all players in averaging 32.0 points per game.

Live bettors will want to watch him closely in the first quarter Sunday, as he paced all players in averaging 9.0 points in the opening 12 minutes of action this season.  It was a big reason why he ended up securing his first-ever scoring title.

I established the Celtics as 1.5-point home favorites in this affair due to the potential suspension that’s looming for Knicks’ Sixth Man of the Year J.R. Smith—a development that NBA bettors need to monitor closely Saturday.

Boston has been known to be nearly unbeatable at home when playing on Sunday—clearly represented in its 32-15 ATS mark on this particular day of the week.
