A battle of lottery picks as Karl Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves square off against the Latvian King of New York, Kristaps Porzingis and his Knicks. This ought to be one for the ages.

NBA Pick: Knicks -4.5
Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City,. This game can be seen on the MSG Channel. According to 5Dimes, the Knicks are a 5 point NBA Odds favorites and the total for the game is 200.5.

This spread is right where it should be. However, the Knicks, coming off of a 112-110 win in Portland, have won just 3 out of their last 10 games and the Timberwolves should be tired on the 2nd half of a back to back. Will we see some surprises in this game is the question?

How Will Porzingis Handle Adversity?
This is the real first taste of adversity that KP has had to face. The Knicks are coming off of one of those rough West coast trips in which they played very poorly; Porzingis in particular.

He's coming off of a scoreless 19 minute effort in a New York win over Portland and averaging just 5.6 points in his last 3 games. New York head coach, Derek Fisher likes to tinker with the rotation. I'm assuming that if Porzingis plays well, he'll see the minutes and if he plays poorly again, he'll sit. Fisher doesn't want to hamper Porzingis' growth, but when players off the bench are playing well and that particular lineup is working, Fisher will stay with the lineup that works as he's won several NBA championships and winning comes first.

A Battle of the Lottery Picks
We have a battle of the #1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft in Karl Anthony- Towns and Kristaps Porzingis. From a New York standpoint, I look for Porzingis to play well. He's a fan favorite and receives a tremendous amount of support from the crowd. Not only that, nobody can deal with his height at 7 foot 3 and the Timberwolves aren't a particularly tough defensive team. This is the perfect game for KP6 to get back on track with.

If Porzingis does indeed play poorly, the T-Wolves defense is taylor-made for Carmelo Anthony to either hit the outside shot or drive and dribble. This game is set up perfect for Melo, who is averaging 21.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per ball game.

Let's not forget, the Timberwolves are a rotten team, losing 7 out of their last 8 games and are in the basement at 9-15 .This game is huge for both teams, who haven't been playing their best basketball lately.

Karl Anthony-Towns
Towns was picked #1 in the 2015 NBA Draft and there's still a race to see who wins Rookie of the Year. Towns started off hot, then got into a slump, and now is starting to catch fire again as he's averaging 18 points and shooting over 60% in his last 6 games.

For the season, Towns is averaging 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.17 blocks per game. The winner for Rookie of the Year has been a 3 man race between Towns, Okafor, and Porzingis, but D'Angelo Russell of the Lakers has been red hot as of late . In the meanwhile, Towns knows that all eyes will be on his matchup with Porzingis and he just needs to get his team a win.

Another player to keep an eye on is 20 year old Zach Lavine. Lavine is averaging 24 points per game in his last 2 outings. Normally, I would think that the Knicks would beat up on the Wolves and even though I know that Kristaps Porzingis is the best rookie, especially, where the Knicks picked him up, he's at a low point in the season. This game hinges on will Porzingis regain his confidence?

Every time that KP has needed to step up in a New York uniform at MSG, he has done so and ultimately that's the deciding factor as he is the franchise. Look for the Knicks to cover against a Timberwolves team with your NBA Pick tonight, but just hasn't learned how to win.
