The NBA Odds favor the Spurs here at -12 ½, but I am more focused on the total, which sits at 206 ½.
Sacramento is giving up a ton of points on the road this season, and I think the Spurs will be able to take advantage of that tonight. Sacramento is giving up 105 points per game on the road this season, but instead of banking on the injured Spurs to cover, I’m instead going with a nice play on the total.
Tony Parker says he is going to play tonight which will only help the Spurs’ offense if he does indeed take the court. Even if he doesn’t however, I still like the over in this one. Six of the last ten times these two teams have faced one another the total has gone over, and about a month ago when they played in San Antonio, the total skied over as well. That number was 215 and the game ended in the Spurs winning 130-102. If Parker plays, I think we see another game just like that, and if he doesn’t it might be a little closer, but still over.
The Spurs haven’t exactly been very good on defense this whole season, and they seem to be starting to level off from their solid post All Star Break defense. San Antonio has given up an average of about 98 points per game over their last three overall, and the Kings aren’t exactly a really good matchup either. I expect the Kings to hit 100 or get pretty close, while the Spurs will likely try and keep their foot on the pedal as much as possible tonight. I’m addint the over to my NBA picks tonight.
