L.A Clippers are on the road and getting ready to face off Utah Jazz tonight. Utah has a better defensive team compared to LA, so we're making this a total NBA pick.

With the Los Angeles Clippers locked into the number four slot of the Western Conference they head to take on Utah who is still battling for a spot.  With most starters resting for Los Angeles and with Utah being one of the better defensive teams in the league we are going to look at the total for this game.  What will be the pace tonight in Utah?

NBA odds have set the total for this game at 185.5 like at BetOnline -115. For one of my NBA picks I will back under the total in this matchup as I look for Utah to put the clamps down on the Clippers and keep this game at a slow pace.

Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers average 104.5 points per game which ranks seventh in the league and allow opponents just 43.4% from the floor overall which ranks second in the NBA. There is a reason why this number is so low and that is simply the fact most of the regulars will not play tonight. This team though is pretty deep and I expect them to make a bit of game of it against a Utah team that would not be considered one to light up the scoreboard.

Without the regulars I anticipate of course some lesser scoring from this team but defensively they should still be able to do enough to keep Utah at a reasonable number. In the second quarter, this season the Clippers rank 14th in the league in defensive and 10th in offensive scoring. This is usually the time reserved for the reserves and although the Clips have been sufficient, stretching those numbers out against a Utah that desperately needs a win should hamper them on both sides of the ball.

Utah Jazz
Utah averages just 97.7 points per game which ranks 28th in the NBA but defensively allow just 95.8 points per game which ranks second. Still battling for a playoff spot these next games for Utah is crucial for them to get wins in order to continue into the post season. Odds makers have made them a solid favorite tonight considering, as mentioned, the Clippers will be resting a lot of guys and I anticipate them to find a way to win the game. For them to do this I believe they will stick with what has got them to this point, tough defense and a controlled pace.

Defensively the Jazz rank first and second in the league in opponent assists per game and opponent points in the paint respectively.  They also rank first and second in opponent field goals made per game and opponent field goals attempted per game respectively. On the other side of the ball they go extremely slow averaging just 80.4 field goal attempts per game which ranks last in the NBA. This game has all the makings of little scoring and the home team controlling the tempo from the opening tip, don’t let the low total throw you off. Under 185.5 at Bet Online -115
