This game is set for a 10:30 ET tipoff and it comes just 24 hours after Steph Curry received a consecutive MVP award and did so by a landslide of votes. NBA pick inside!

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden St. Warriors
The first 2 games of this series were played on this floor with the Warriors recording victories of 12 and 11 points. The Game 2 score of (110-99) was a bit misleading, as the Warriors needed to outscore the Blazers by a count of 34-12 in the 4th quarter to get that win and cover. When the series shifted to Game 3 in Portland, the Blazers rode the 40-point night of Damian Lillard for a 120-108 upset victory. It looked as if Portland was on their way to evening the series, as they were in control of Game 4 well into the 2nd half.

Then MVP Curry, who had missed the first 4 games of the series with an injured knee, put on his Superman cape and led Golden St. to OT, before scoring an NBA record 17 points in that OT period for the (132-125) victory and 3-1 series lead. Curry missed his first (10) 3-point attempts and shot just 6 of 18 through the first 3 quarters. But once the first 3- pointer swished through the net, he knocked down 10 of 14 shots, scoring 40 points in 38 minutes!

Curry will receive his MVP award once again before tonight’s game, but the MVP is not the only Warrior that Portland must contain. Curry’s running mate at guard, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, are also stuffing the stat sheet. Thompson is averaging 30.5 PPG for the series, while Green is averaging 24.5/11.3.

But, there is plenty of reason to believe Portland will come in under this bloated number tonight. Historically speaking, we know that double-digit NBA Playoff road dogs, following a SUATSL, are an over 65% playoff proposition. In addition, after Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs, any greater than .500 road dog of 12 or more points has covered over 70% of the time, including over 75% if they are not off a double digit loss in their previous game.

The Warriors may start fast in this game with huge momentum from Curry’s MVP award. But, eventually that emotion will wear off, leaving a Portland team, who has proven their mettle in this series, to be competitive until the very end. Note that the Trail Blazers are the ONLY NBA team to defeat Golden St. twice this season and Golden St. has not beaten Portland by more than 12 points the entire series. I invite you to put the NBA odds in your favor and join me in my NBA pick on the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.
