Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks 7:35 PM ET
New York has gone 15-2 under the total during their previous seventeen games, and that includes 4-0 under in its last four outings. New York is also 6-1 under the total in its last seven played at Madison Square Garden, and there was a combined average of just 190.0 points scored per game. The Knicks have scored 93 points or less in each of their previous three games, 94 or less in eight of its last ten, and allowed less than 100 during five of the past seven outings.

Brooklyn will be playing with no rest today following Thursday’s 107-87 loss at Cleveland. According to current NBA odds  at YouWager, the posted total for this game is 201.5. Brooklyn has gone under the total in three straight contests when playing with no rest and the posted total is 205.0 or less. There was a combined 197.7 point scored per game during those three contests.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks 8:05 PM ET
Cleveland has gone under the total in each of their previous four games. During that stretch they allowed a very respectable 97.5 points per game.

Atlanta is 7-2 under the total during their previous nine home games. The Hawks defensive play in those contests was a major contributor to the high percentage of low scoring affairs. Atlanta allowed only 91.8 points per game, and held its opponents to a meager 40.3% shooting during those nine outings on their home floor.

I like this game to be a low scoring contest, and one of my Friday NBA picks will concur with that assessment.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Utah Jazz 9:05 PM ET
These NBA Northwest Division rivals have seen all three of their meetings this season stay under the total. Minnesota scored 94 points or less in each of those contests, and also averaged an extremely low 78.7 field goal attempts per game.

Utah has allowed less than 100 points in twelve of their previous three games. The only three exceptions during that stretch came twice against Golden State, and once versus Oklahoma City. Considering those two teams are first and second in NBA scoring offense, we can give Utah a legitimate excuse for those uncharacteristic defensive performances. Utah is 21-8 under the total during their last twenty-nine home games. They allowed only 90.9 points per game during that stretch. The Jazz have also scored 96 points or less in six of its previous seven outings.
