The Nets find themselves down 0-2 to the Miami Heat heading back home, and Game 3 in Brooklyn looks like a must win. However the NBA Odds have the Nets as home underdogs, so will they beat Miami SU, or start to fade into the sunset?

Defense rules, but not in crunch time
The Nets and Heat played pretty good defense on one another in Game 2 all the way until the final five or six minutes of the game. The two teams were neck and neck until then, but like they almost always do, the Heat turned on the turbo boosters to close out the game, and took a 2-0 series lead heading to New York. The NBA Odds for this Game 3 in Brooklyn have the Nets as +1 underdogs, with a total of 189 points.

This game will probably feature plenty of defense from both sides, and after cashing the under with ease on Thursday, I am ready to double down on it again on Saturday. Even though this total has dropped a full three points from Game 2, it is still probably too high.

The Heat played their first two games against the Nets in Brooklyn this season. Fast-forward to now, and the Nets are down Brook Lopez, and they are down in this series. If I didn’t stress it enough to start the series, I’m sorry, however the regular season success the Nets had against the Heat has, and will continue to not make a difference in this series, even in Brooklyn.

I am tempted to lay the one-point with the Heat, but they haven’t been flawless this season either. Even though their postseason has been easy so far, they will probably lose a game to the Nets in this series. I picked this one to go five games, and although the Nets have not looked like it so far, they can beat the Heat in Brooklyn.

The Sharp Pick
However if the Nets get into a shoot out with the Heat, they might as well not even gas up the jet for their trip back to Miami for Game 5. The Nets are going to take a game in this series by playing better defense than Miami, and even though that’s a stretch, I don’t think it’s impossible to believe they could do it at home for one game.

On the flip side, Miami knows they have the Nets where they want them, and their defensive intensity will not change from what’s it’s been in the first two games of this series. The Nets are going to have to figure out a way to score on the Heat, because matching up and playing small ball with them has not worked well in the first two games.

Even though it might be a stretch to predict that both teams will fall below the 90-point mark in Game 3, there is going to be a game in this series where both teams are playing exceptional defense, and the total will fly under once again. We saw that in Game 2, but I think it could happen again here in Game 3. Add the under to your NBA Picks for Saturday.

My Pick: UNDER 189
