Stop the presses: the New York Knicks are on fire. They’ve won three of their last four games, which is quite impressive considering they only had three wins after their first 16 games this season. If they can beat the two-time champs on Thursday night, then people will really start to believe in their turnaround.

The Miami Heat can win because…

They’re on a roll. The Heat have won three straight and five of six. If the Knicks are “hot” because they’ve won a couple of games, the Heat are blazingly on fire. What’s a good little stretch is equivalent to how the Heat always play. That’s the difference between these teams.

On the court, the issue will be that the Heat not only play better defense but are far more multi-faceted than the Knicks. They have a number of dynamic weapons while the Knicks rely way too much on Carmelo Anthony. That’s why the Heat are the better choice on the NBA odds.

The New York Knicks can win because…

They’ve been a different team over the last week or so. The Knicks won in San Antonio and Dallas, and nearly won in Houston. Those are three pretty good teams. Then they came home on Tuesday night and took care of the Detroit Pistons.

They are starting to get healthy as Raymond Felton is back in the lineup and Tyson Chandler (questionable) might also play. They’re finally playing with some confidence after their recent wins and that’s exactly what this team is missing. Are they the best team in the Eastern Conference? Definitely not. Are more talented than their 12-22 record indicates? Absolutely. If they continue to play with confidence, they’ll be worth a shot with your NBA picks on Thursday.

Outlook & Pick

The Knicks are playing really well right now and that warrants a play. As mentioned, they’ve already gone toe-to-toe with some tough competition in the last week and won, so they shouldn’t get run off the floor in this one. Take them with your sports picks as they should cover on Thursday and maybe even win outright.
