After pulling off quite a winning streak, the Clippers seem to be coming back down to earth.  Tonight they travel to Atlanta. let's review the NBA odds first for our winning selection.

NBA Pick: Hawks -3
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

NBA odds makers have Atlanta at a small -3 favorite and the total around 207. This is good value on a good Atlanta team that should be geared up to play a different looking Los Angeles Clippers team.  In their last three home games the Hawks have been dominant and have won seven of their last eight at home.  After a slow start to the season they are starting to look somewhat like the contender they were last year so for my selection I will back them laying the small number.

Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles is averaging 104.7 points per game while shooting 46.3% from the field, and allowing 101.3 points per game on 43.8% shooting from the field. On the season they are 20-21-3 overall against the spread, and an even 10-10-2 on the road. They haven't seemed to have missed much without Blake Griffin with the winning streak they had, but that was during a stretch in which they didn't have a lot of heavy competition. On the season offensively they have been extremely good and rank as one of the best scoring teams in the NBA. JJ Redick has really stepped up and Chris Paul, well, he is Chris Paul. On the season they rank in the top five in the league in overall shooting percentage, two point shooting percentage, effective field-goal percentage, and three point shooting percentage. Without Griffin they have lost some presence in the interior and right now they rank second to last in the NBA in points in the paint averaging just 37.1 per contest. Defensively they have been better-than-average and rank in the top 10 in opponent shooting efficiency, opponent effective field-goal percentage, and opponent two and three point shooting percentage. The Clippers are a good basketball team and play hard on both ends, but being in the Western Conference really hurts their championship aspirations. Tonight after coming off a back to back I think they will struggle against Atlanta.

Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta is averaging 102.5 points per game while shooting 46.1% from the field, and allowing 100 points per game on 44% shooting from the field. On the season they are right at 50% going 22-22-2 against the spread overall, and 11-10-1 at home. The Hawks just got back from a long road trip and overall seem to finally be coming around although they have been a bit inconsistent the last couple weeks. At home they have been very good, and offensively they are very efficient ranking fifth in the NBA in both shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage. They also move the ball extremely well averaging 25.6 assist per game (ranks 2nd behind Golden State) showing how unselfish they are, and they can score from the inside out averaging 44.7 points in the paint per game and shooting 34.1% from distance averaging 9.2 threes per game. On the defensive side they are still not quite a sharp as last year but I like how they matchup with Los Angeles. They rank as one of the better teams in the league in overall opponent shooting percentage and opponent field goals made per game. Tonight they should be able to get out and defend the road weary Clippers team that is playing their fifth game in a row on the road.

This is a tough spot for Los Angeles Clippers to come into Atlanta and keep this game close. After a hard-fought game last night in Indiana things do not get any easier for them playing in Atlanta, a team that has been very good at home the last two seasons. For one of your NBA picks tonight I recommend laying the small number with Atlanta and look for them to win this game by close to a double-digits.
