One of our later games this evening is that of the Hawks, as they continue their west coast swing.Which side of these lines do we need to be one tonight?

This time they visit Phoenix to play the Suns. Atlanta comes into this one as a -4 NBA odds favorite with a total of 194.

The Hawks are on a nice streak right now. It’s amazing what not breaking up a team will do for your record in the standings. The Hawks have won their last four games SU and ATS, and the last three have been on the road. Can they keep their run of winning and covering alive tonight?

I think they can. The Suns are desperately trying to tank this season. They fired Alvin Gentry, who happens to be a really good coach, and they still aren’t that bad. They just beat the Spurs outright the other night in San Antonio.

However, after a big win like that, it is very traditional to have a let down. There are still five teams with worse records than Phoenix, and the Suns probably need more help than any of them with the exception of the Bobcats.

On the other side, the Hawks have actually played well on the road this season. They are 16-12 ATS on the road, including those last three in a row. Phoenix will likely give up well into the 100s in points tonight, and one of the things that has helped Atlanta lately is what was helping them early this season, their defense. It comes and goes, much like a shady relative, but it has been there down the stretch in games. Plus, Atlanta has scored over 110 points per game in these last four wins, and the Suns are the probably the worst team defensively they have faced with the exception of the Kings, who they dropped 122 on. I’m seeing a 107-97 game tonight, so lay the points with the Hawks for your NBA picks.
