One of the games on the short card this evening is the Hawks traveling north to Detroit to play the Pistons. The NBA Odds favor the road Hawks in this one at -2, with a total of 197. Which one of these Eastern Conference teams will get the cover and cash you a winning ticket to start the week right?
Despite their lottery bound record this season, the Pistons have the Hawks’ number. Four of the last five times these two have met the Pistons have cashed a winning ticket, despite winning only two in that stretch.
However, when playing in Detroit the Pistons have won the last two times SU as well as three of the last five from Detroit, and are 3-1-1 ATS in that stretch.
However, Detroit is feeling some injuries right now. Their star guard Brandon Knight missed the last game with a knee injury, and word out of Detroit is that he is likely out for a few more games as well. This will definitely put a dent in the Piston’s scoring, as Knight averages almost 14 points per game this season. Detroit is of course still without Andre Drummond, and Will Bynum is also out for this game after being suspended for a flagrant 2.
Despite Detroit’s success against the Hawks, all the injuries and players missing is enough for me to back the Hawks with my NBA picks in this one. The Hawks have won four of their last five games SU, and with all the players missing for the Pistons; I can’t see Detroit staying competitive in this one. Josh Smith and Al Horford will be plenty to counter the Pistons’ only real offensive threat in Greg Monroe, and the Atlanta backcourt will do the rest. Lay the points.
NBA Pick: Hawks -2
