Will Atlanta continue their recent dominance of the Magic, or will Orlando get their first win against the Hawks this season? Find out where we are looking to place our NBA picks.

After their big win in Dallas on Monday evening, the Hawks travel into Orlando this evening to face of against the Magic. Atlanta is favored by -3 ½ on the road in this one, with a total of 197.

Atlanta in permanent flux

Whether or not the trade rumors surrounding Josh Smith are true or not, it hasn’t been affecting his play. The Hawks haven’t been playing with much consistency lately, but Smith sure has. In the last five games, Smith is averaging over 19 points, 10.5 rebounds and five assists, all while shooting 52%. However, the Hawks are only 2-3 ATS during that time frame.

Magic home let down

Orlando hasn’t exactly been the example of a good bet when playing in Florida, as they are only 9-17 ATS at home this season. Combine that with their disappearing defense and you have a recipe for disaster when the Magic play at home. It also doesn’t help that the Hawks have won five out of their last seven games in Orlando.

The Sharp Pick

Atlanta owns the Hawks as I mentioned above, but this spread seems just right. Instead of focusing on the spread, I’ve chosen to add the total to my NBA Picks for tonight. Nine out of the last ten games these two teams have played have gone under the total, and four of the last five games between the Hawks in Orlando have gone under.

Tonight, I think that the NBA odds are set too high, and the total of 197 is just too much. Even though the Magic are healthier than they have been this month, the totals these two teams normally play with are in the 180s. I can’t see either team scoring a whole lot, so take the under.

My Pick: UNDER 197
