After a slow week, it appears I’ve leveled off a bit in my NBA Picks. However, we are still making a nice chunk of profit on the season, so we just wait for another winning streak to add to our profit total.

NBA Picks: Hawks vs. Knicks

2012-2013 NBA straight picks record: 64-46-4.

After getting beat down by the 76ers last night the Knicks flew back home and now welcome in the Hawks to Madison Square Garden, for a Sunday showdown. NBA Odds favor the Knicks at -5, with an over/under of 192 points.

After an embarrassing loss last night in Philadelphia, will the Knicks be able to rebound, literally and figuratively? Or, will the Hawks come in and spoil the Knicks Sunday?

Hawks turning back around?

After starting out the season hot as wild fire, the Hawks cooled off quickly. Atlanta won 15 of their first 22 games on the season, but since then have gone 10-11 SU since. That is also including their recent three game winning streak.

Atlanta beat three solid teams in route to this small streak, but none of them were great teams. Now they face New York, a team they have surprisingly not face yet this season. However, in their last five meetings with the Knicks, things have not gone well. The Hawks are 1-4 ATS and SU against the Knicks in their last five against them.

This is not good for this newer looking Hawks team, as the Knicks are also much better than they were last season and the season before. The Hawks have not been solid on the road this season, as they are 10-11 ATS and SU on the road. Also, before their win this past Wednesday on the road in Charlotte, the Hawks had lost six straight road games SU.

Knicks’ Felton returns

The Knicks got some much needed back court help last night, even though they lost the game by 17 points. Raymond Felton returned for the Knicks after missing the last 12 games with a broken finger.

His conditioning was not bad, as he played nearly 30 minutes in his return. However, with basketball players and hand injuries, normally it takes come time to get your shot and ball handling back. That showed last night, as Felton was only 2-8 from the floor with 2 turnovers and only 3 assists.

Once Felton can find his rhythm shooting and passing the ball, the Knicks are going to get a big boost on their offense. Tonight against the Hawks, maybe Felton will do better than 2-8. Even though the Knicks are coming off a back to back, that is good news for Felton. Jason Kidd and Iman Shumpert are both probably not going to play much on the second night of a back to back, both for different reasons. Felton will have to play big if the Knicks want to win.

The Sharp Pick

New York threw up a clunker last night, and that will continue to happen more frequently now that we are in the dog days of January, so to speak. For tonight, I’m doing what I have done a lot of over the last few Sundays, and that’s take the over.

At only 192, I think the Hawks will take advantage of a tired Knicks team tonight. New York will also be able to right their shooting slump and score on an overrated Hawks’ defense. Yes, Atlanta has the 6th best defense in points allowed for the year. However, their opponents field goal percentage is almost 45%, and their opponents’ three point percentage ranks 24th in the NBA at 37%. The Knicks will catch fire tonight against the Hawks, while Atlanta will score as well. Take the over for your NBA picks tonight.
