Cavaliers are a win away from booking their spot in the NBA Finals. Can they finish off the Hawks in game 4. Find out as we breakdown the NBA odds and serve up our NBA picks.

Cavs One Win Away
The Cleveland Cavaliers are one win away from clinching the Eastern Conference finals at the expense of top seed Atlanta Hawks. A feat that would be an upset in the context of NBA playoffs seeding, but not in the mind of bettors and NBA odds makers alike. The latter of which sent the Cavaliers into the postseason as one of the teams to beat.

Cavaliers got off to a flying start in the series with a 97-89 win that saw the cash as the road underdogs and cover the 2-point spread. In game 2, despite moving to 3-points against the spread, the Cavs crushed the Hawks 94-82 to steal home advantage from the hosts. With the series shifting to Cleveland, the Cavaliers extended their edge to 3-0 behind a narrow 114-111 win, which saw them fail to cover for the first time in this series as the 8-point home chalk.

Now, with a commanding lead in the series, the Cavs will certainly look to finish the job. As it is, they have the nod from bookies, matched as the whopping -750 favourites to win outright and the 7.5-point home chalk. Indeed, it would take a monumental effort by the Hawks to derail the Cavaliers at home.

Can The Hawks Comeback?
If NBA betting trends were any indication, the resounding answer is no. Simply put: it's never been done before. No team in the NBA has comeback from a 3-0 sinkhole to win a series. That alone makes the prospect of a Hawks comeback extremely unlikely.

Then again, history can be rewritten. Anything can happen. Just because it's never been done before, doesn't mean it never will happen. The question NBA bettors must consider is whether this Hawks instalment is the sort of team that could potentially defy the NBA odds and betting trends.

It would be lovely to say that they unequivocally are such a team. But that would smack of wishful thinking. The Cavaliers have been dialled into this series and the Hawks have looked overwhelmed. Most worrisome is LeBron James' three straight 30-point performances. The Hawks can't seem to stop the LeBron juggernaut at all.

NBA Betting Verdict
The overwhelming consensus across NBA betting panels is that the Cavaliers will complete the series tonight. And we agree. Unlike the Rockets last night, who were playing at home and were able to live another day behind and inspired James Harden performance, the Hawks are on the road in game 4. Pulling off a similar feat in LeBron James' house is a long shot NBA pick few NBA bettors would consider, tempting though the NBA odds are. The Cavaliers should pull off the feat before their loyal fans as the hefty -350 favourites. In terms of betting on the spread, the. question is how competitive will the Hawks be tonight. We don't think they'll go down meekly, so taking a chance on the Hawks covering the 7.5-point spread seems like a good NBA pick. Then again, the Cavs have advanced in each round behind a convincing performance in each series-clincher, winning by no fewer than 8-points, with their 21-point crushing of the Bulls in game 6 the biggest win. If they are in a similar such mood, the Hawks may not have a prayer.
