The Grizzlies and Raptors will meet in Memphis tonight, and it's the home team that's favored on the NBA betting odds board. Who should we be picking here?
Depending on which sportsbook you're looking at, the Grizzlies are favored by either 5 or 5.5 points. Use SBR's live NBA odds board in order to get the best possible number and give yourself the biggest edge possible.
As for the game's total, the O/U is listed at 199.5, with 200 also available here and there.
The Grizzlies are 29-12 on the season, so let's please not forget about them when considering the best futures odd value. They're not getting too much love from oddsmakers, who have them at very high odds to win the title. This is a very experienced, playoff-tested team though, and they've strengthened since last season, so the Grizzlies shouldn't be slept on.
Memphis comes in having won four of their last five, though that one loss did come their last time out. They fell 103-95 against Dallas at home, even in spite of the fact Rajon Rondo was plagued by foul trouble throughout. The Grizzlies haven't lost very many times on their own court, so they're going to be eager to make it up to their fans this evening.
Mike Conley returned from a brief absence and had a great game against the Mavs, so we'll assume he's good to go and won't be limited. The Grizzlies are still trying to get Jeff Green integrated into the team as much as possible, in preparation for a playoff run. Memphis appears to be in a great spot overall tonight.
Just looking at their overall record, the Raptors have had an excellent season, but a closer look into their recent performances shows a different story. They've actually been struggling lately, having gone 3-7 over their last 10 games overall. More immediately, Toronto is coming off a road win over Milwaukee, so maybe they've already begun to turn things around again.
After all, getting a guy like DeMar DeRozan back is going to help no matter what you may think. It's going to take some time for them to get accustomed to the recently returned shooting guard, but until they've put together a few more wins, we're going to stay away from the Raptors. We know they've got the talent to do a lot of good things.
Kyle Lowry has been truly outstanding while DeRozan was out, and we're eager to see how things go now that he has to share a bit of the limelight with his backcourt mate. The duo have thrived together before, so it's only a matter of time before they click it into high gear again. For now however, Toronto appears to be worth fading.
Though the Raptors have been enjoying a fine season, and just got the luxury of adding an All Star in DeRozan back into the fold, we think the right side is Memphis in this spot.
The Grizzlies have been every bit as good this season and are getting healthy too, while they've also recently added Green to the mix. That's a move of a franchise that wants to be competing for the title, so we think this is certainly a team to be monitoring very closely going forward.
Meanwhile, Toronto hasn't been playing all that well lately and is still trying to adjust to life with DeRozan back.
So when contemplating our NBA picks, with Conley back and Gasol and Randolph getting it done like usual, we expect a Memphis win, and we feel confident in the team's chances of winning by at least five points. Add the Grizzlies to your picks for this busy Wednesday night of hoops action.
