The NBA Odds now list the Grizzlies at -3 for tonight's matchup in Washington DC against the Wizards, with a total of 182 points.
Will the Grizz be able to beat the Wizards on the road without arguably their best player? Let's breakdown this matchup from a betting point-of-view as we try to decide where the best value lies for our sports picks tonight.
I think the loss of Gasol will be much more felt on defense tonight for the Grizzlies than on offense. Without their big man in the middle grabbing rebounds and blocking shots, the Wizards big men should be able to have pretty good games.
That is why I’m siding with the Wizards team total, which should be sitting just under or over 90 points once everything settles. Washington is averaging over 97 points per game at home this season, and over their last ten meetings against the Grizzlies, the Wizards have averages 98 points per game.
I think Washington is going to be able to take advantage of the Grizzlies’ defense tonight with no Gasol. The Wizards might be still without Bradley Beal for this game, however Trevor Ariza might be back after having the flu.
The Grizzlies’ defense is much more beatable when they are playing on the road than at home. On the road this season, Memphis is giving up over 92 points per game, and without their big man tonight, I see Washington scoring the ball with a lot more ease. The Wizards have scored 100 or more points in three of their last five games, and while I doubt they reach that milestone tonight against a still very good defensive team, I think 90 points is very attainable. Take the Wizards’ team total tonight and add it to your NBA Picks for Monday.
