The Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder rekindled their flame on Saturday night. After the Grizzlies ruined the Thunder’s season in last year’s playoffs, the Thunder earned a small measure of revenge by taking Game 1.

The Memphis Grizzlies Can Win Because…
They survived the storm. The Thunder blitzed them in Game 1, were up huge at halftime but Memphis fought back. They managed to cut the lead to two in the fourth quarter and get back in the game. That shows that they aren’t going to be intimidated – even if the Thunder have Russell Westbrook this time.

The Grizzlies are a very confident team these days. They are 27-10 in their last 37 games and are playing just about as good as anyone right now. Take them with your NBA picks as they should at least cover the spread.

The Oklahoma City Thunder Can Win Because…
They’re the better team. They absolutely pounded the Grizzlies in three of the four quarters. As long as they don’t fall asleep in the third quarter again, they’ll be fine. Taking a look back, they outscored the Grizzlies by nine or more in three of the four quarters. They simply took their foot off the gas after halftime, let the Grizzlies back in the game and it cost them. Look for them to learn from their mistake and for them to play a focused 48 minutes this time. They are the significantly more talented team – especially in the backcourt. That’s going to show once more in Game 2.

Outlook & Pick
Can Memphis play better in the first half? Can Oklahoma City avoid the one bad quarter? That’s the questions bettors want answered in Game 2. The reality is that Oklahoma City should win Game 2 but the 7.5 points is too enticing to pass up for my NBA picks. Look for the Grizzlies to keep this game close but still come up short.

Pick: Grizzlies +7.5 at Pinnacle
