Terry Stotts’ squad returns to its own floor for Wednesday’s matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizz' have cashed two straight UNDER tickets in their latest pair of victories.
Blazers, Matthews outgunned in Utah
Portland logged its fifth straight loss in Monday’s 112-102 defeat to the Utah Jazz, while holding on to collect as a 10 ½-point road dog. The Trail Blazers hit 58.2 percent of their field buckets, including 13-of-23 shots drained from three-point land.
Blazers guards Wesley Matthews put up a team-high 23 points, while mates Eric Maynor and Damian Lillard united for 13 assists. Portland’s J.J. Hickson and Meyers Leonard came away with seven boards each, with Leonard adding one of his side’s two blocks.
The duel’s combined 214 points soared above the NBA odds ‘total’ of 199 ½, with the Blazers trailing by as many as 19 points. Portland sank 11-of-17 free throws and were outscored in paint points, 52-28.
Grizzlies, Conley edge out Spurs
Memphis’ latest triumph came on the same night of action, notching a 92-90 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Grizzlies guard Mike Conley landed a late layup to give his squad the victory, while failing to cash as a 6 ½-point home favorite.
Conley finished with 23 points, knocking down 11-of-17 buckets from the field. Memphis’ Zach Randolph picked up his fifth double-double in nine games, logging 11 points and 10 boards.
The contest’s combined 182 points dipped UNDER the ‘total’ of 189 ½, with Memphis outscoring San Antonio in the second half, 55-46. Grizzlies mates Marc Gasol and Tayshaun Prince notched four assists each, while uniting for five steals.

Back the OVER in Portland
Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge (21 PPG) is listed as “questionable” for this battle, missing the team’s last three affairs with an ankle injury. Both squads will have one day off before resuming action as part of Friday’s league slate, with Portland hosting the Houston Rockets as Memphis visits the Los Angeles Lakers.
I am adding the OVER in this duel to Wednesday’s sports picks, looking for a back-and-forth battle at Rose Garden.
Memphis came away with a 102-97 win in last month’s most recent matchup with the Blazers, while OVER backers collected with the 199 points jumping above the ‘total’ of 186. Randolph and Gasol combined for 39 points, with the Grizzlies connecting from the floor at 51.3 percent.
Portland has allowed visitors to hit 48.4 percent of their field buckets, with the OVER cashing at 13-3 in its last 16 home dates. The Blazers have put up 105.2 PPG of their own in the last eight matchups of that stretch, while Aldridge’s possible return could provide some extra spark.
The OVER is 16-5-1 in Portland’s last 22 spots that came after a defeat. Look for OVER backers to collect again as the Blazers hope to end their skid, while Memphis also connects its share of shots.
