OKC snapped a 3-game losing streak over the Suns while the Wizards are reeling from 2 consecutive blowouts. We examine this matchup & determine which side is the right to back in our NBA picks.

Oklahoma City Thunder (4-3 SU, 3-4 ATS)
The Thunder may not have a terrific record but their main man Kevin Durant is playing like, well, Kevin Durant. On Sunday he led his team to a 124-103 victory over the Suns and bucketed 32 points and 11 rebounds in what has become a routine for one of the premier players in the NBA. Durant is averaging just over 30 points per game and shooting over 50 percent from the field including 42 percent from three-point-land. The team as a whole forced 23 turnovers in that game leading to a season-high 27 fast break points which wore down the Suns and put the game out of reach.

Durant is going back to his hometown of DC tonight and the Wizards have made no bones about courting the soon to be free agent. Oklahoma City is hoping to woo him back in a Thunder uniform but Durant has not made any public his preference for his next destination. What we do know is that he has a 31.5 scoring average when he plays in front of friends and family at the Verizon Center. When last the teams met in January Durant scored 34 in a 105-103 overtime victory. The NBA Odds makers made that game a pick so that was not only a win for the Thunder but a cover for all who backed them in their NBA Picks.

Washington Wizards (3-3 SU, 2-4 ATS)
The Wizards have been anything but magical over their last pair of games. The mini-road trip they took was not kind as the Celtics blew them out 118-98 as two-point dogs on Friday night and then the following evening the Wiz got drilled to the tune of 114-99 in Atlanta. Washington has been scoring at a decent rate averaging 102.5 points per game placing them 11th in the league but their defense has not been up to snuff allowing 108 PPG ranking them 26th of 30.

Shooting guard Bradley Beal leads Washington with a 22.7 points per game average but is questionable for tonight’s game with Oklahoma City. John Wall is close behind with a 19.2 average but leads the team in assists (8.8) and 2 ½ steal per game. Turnovers are the bane of the Wizards’ existence so early in the season as they committed 26 in their loss to the Hawks on Saturday night and have the dubious distinction of leading the league in that category.

NBA Pick
Make no mistake this will be a showcase for Kevin Durant who is openly being wooed by the Wizards to ply his trade in Washington next season and beyond. This will be his final visit to the Verizon Center, barring an unlikely NBA championship series, of the season and in his last visit his image was ablaze on the Jumbotron wearing a Washington Wizards uniform. Subtle, eh?

The Wizards have played the Thunder tough in DC splitting the last two both straight up and against the spread. But with Bradley Beal questionable and Durant licking his chops to show everyone in DC what they’re missing this could be a sharp spot to wager on Oklahoma City. The NBA odds makers are not making it easy hanging OKC at -5 in most shops but Pinnacle.com is giving a little more value to the chalk eaters at -4 ½. We say that Durant, Westbrook and crew will sink a Washington ship that’s taken on water recently with inconsistent play and beaucoup turnovers.

NBA Picks: Play the Thunder – 4 ½ at Pinnacle
