Opposite end of the spectrum meet when San Antonio hosts Philadelphia Saturday night. Can the Spurs cover 17 points on the NBA odds? Or are the visiting Sixers the play?

Sixers-Spurs Betting Odds
Most of Saturday's NBA Odds market opened this game with San Antonio favored by 18 points, the total offered at right around 198. As of this writing most shops had dropped the Spurs to 16.5, and the total to 195

The Match-Up
Philly (0-9 SU, 3-6 ATS) remained winless on the season with a 102-85 loss at Oklahoma City Friday night. The Sixers led the Kevin Durant-less Thunder by six after one quarter, and only trailed by one point late in the third quarter, but faded from there, and couldn't hold on for the cover as 13-point dogs.

On the night Philly, after a quick start, ended up shooting just 35 percent from the floor, and committed 18 turnovers.

Wednesday the Sixers lost at home to Toronto 119-103, missing on the cover at +9; just before that they lost at home to Chicago 111-88, missing ATS at +10; and just before that they lost at home to Orlando 105-97, missing ATS at +3. So not only is Philly losing games, it's leaking cash, too.

San Antonio (6-2 both SU and ATS), meanwhile, has won three games in a row, after beating the Blazers in Portland Wednesday 113-101, covering at -6. The Spurs led by a dozen at the half, allowed Portland to rally and tie the score at 66-66, then edged away from there. On the night San Antonio – the best shooting team in the league - shot 56 percent from the field, while holding Portland to 44 percent shooting.

Monday the Spurs won at Sacramento 106-88, covering at -7, and just before that they beat Charlotte 114-94, covering at -9. So San Antonio is 6-1 ATS this season when favored.

San Antonio has beaten Philadelphia eight times in a row, including twice last season by scores of 100-75 and 109-103. The Spurs covered that first meeting as 16-point favorites, but the Sixers covered the second meeting as 11-point home dogs.

San Antonio only shot 44 percent from the floor in those two games combined, but held Philly to just 38 percent FG shooting.

Also, those two games split on the totals, playing UNDER 196, then OVER 195.

Totals Trends
Philly is 6-3 on the OVERS this season, as Sixers games have averaged 198 points.

San Antonio is 4-3 on the UNDERS, as Spurs games have averaged 196 points.

Injury Update
San Antonio might be a little shorthanded tonight; F Kawhi Leonard (22 PPG) took a spill the other night, hurt his arm, left the game but came back. Also, F Manu Ginobili (11 PPG) is dealing with sore abs. Both are questionable for tonight.

Sixers-Spurs Free NBA Picks
There's not much doubt as to who will win this game; Philly doesn't have enough to pull the upset, even with San Antonio's injuries. But the Sixers did play with a little spark the other night at OKC, and maybe they can carry some of that over. Also, playing at home means the Spurs are probably favored by a couple of buckets too much. We'll take a chance with Philly here, plus the points. As for the NBA Pick on the total, the initial downward adjustment was probably correct; take the UNDER.

NBA Picks: Philly +17 at JustBet and UNDER 195 at Heritage.
