Wednesday night brings us the Hawks hosting the Mavericks in what should prove to be a close game, with Atlanta just 1 point betting favorites. But we've found value in making Dallas our NBA Pick.

Just when Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks thought that they could take a breath after a tough battle with Kristaps Porzingis, Melo, and the New York Knicks, they must now face an Atlanta Hawks club with a great deal of experience that are always a tough beat any night of the week. See who we like as our betting pick in this competitive matchup.

Tip-off is scheduled for tonight at 9:30 p.m. EST at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This game can be viewed on the ESPN Network. According to 5Dimes Sportsbook, the Mavericks are a 1 point betting underdogs on the NBA Odds Board and the total for the game is listed at 204.

D-Will Is Back!
A change of venue is just what Deron Williams needed as he was once touted as the savior and franchise player for the then New Jersey Nets, but it didn't work out that way.

Williams has a new look, uncovering his receeding hairline with a freshly shaved head and headband. Although this might sound trivial, it is relevant as he's developed a new identity and has re-discovered his game in Dallas; which happens to be his home town.

With Raymond Felton and Devin Harris backing D-Will up, the Mavericks are an experienced club, but one that can beat any team on any given night. It might be late in his career, but Dirk Nowitzki has found the perfect setup man in Williams and the two have developed a great chemistry on the hardwood and owner, Marc Cuban, is liking it.

For the season, Williams is averaging 15.2 points and 6 assists per game and is receiving a ton of minutes. In his last 10 games, D-Will is averaging 17.6 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. He's still young enough to put a team over the top and he's the perfect fit for the Mavs.

Supporting Cast
Along with Williams, the Mavericks picked up Wesley Matthews in the off-season and although he wasn't the force that he was with the Portland Trail Blazers, he can still knock down the timely 3-ball.

In his last 4 games, he's gotten more comfortable, averaging 17.3 points per game. Add in the presence of Zaza Pachulia, who is a nightly walking double-double, and the Mavericks are a force to be reckoned with. Atlanta will need to be on top of their game to defeat the Mavs in Dallas. I think the spread is very low and if Dallas plays the way that they did against the Knicks, they shouldn't have a problem.

Same Old Hawks
Most people figured out from Atlanta's fantastic season last year that they were a great regular season team, but had no legitimate to star to take over a game and get them deep into the playoffs.

This is a team with several good players that serve their roles, but they're only getting older and not improving. If anything, 3-point specialist, Kyle Korver, went from an all-star last season to a barely average player this season that is very soft. Atlanta has incorporated young players such as Dennis Schroeder into the offense to give this team some life.

The numbers say that the aging Korver is delivering at 10 points and 4 rebounds per game while shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc, but he's not the same player that he was last season and is very weak on the defensive end.

The Big 3?
This team is lead by the usual suspects in Paul Milsap, Jeff Teague, and Big Al Horford. What bothers me about the Hawks is although these 3 players are all “2nd tier” level players that are considered stars, but you don't know who will step up each game and lead this team. That said, they're still good enough to give the Hawks 45-50 wins on the season.

While Atlanta might be the better team in talent, Dallas is the more energetic team and in a matchup in Dallas with a low spread, this favors the Mavericks and the Mavericks are the easy NBA Pick.
