The No. 1 Golden State Warriors and the No. 8 New Orleans Pelicans collide in a lopsided series, marking the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Here's a primer on this NBA Playoffs clash and our predictions for your NBA picks.
Regular Season Preview
The Golden State Warriors and first-year coach Steve Kerr are coming off the best regular season in franchise history. They topped the league with a 67-15 record and .817 winning percentage, anchored by an impressive 39-2 SU record at home and a 28-13 record on the road.
By the numbers, their 67-15 SU record includes a 46-34-2 ATS record. At home, they went 39-2 SU and 20-21 ATS while on the road they went 28-13 SU and 20-20-1 ATS.
The New Orleans Pelicans entered the NBA playoffs with a 45-37 SU record and 46-36 ATS record overall. At home, the Pelicans were a decent 28-13 SU and 25-16 ATS, while on the road they went 17-24 SU and 21-20 ATS.
Head-to-Head Record 2014-2015
The Warriors edged the Pelicans 3-1 in the regular season, after winning the first three meetings in a row. They opened with a convincing 112-85 win at home as the 9.5-point home chalk before extending their edge in the series with a 128-122 win on the road, albeit failing to cash as the 6.5-point favourites. In the third clash, the Warriors routed the Pelicans 112-96 to easily cover as the 14-point home chalk. The last meeting between this pair, however, went the way of the Pelicans. On April 7, the Pelicans beat the Warriors 103-100, cashing as the 4.5-point home dogs.

Golden State Warriors -8000 To Win Series
NBA Betting Verdict:
As the NBA odds board, this series is expected to be one-sided entirely. In fact, this is the only series that many are predicting to be so conclusive with the Golden State Warriors the almost lock NBA pick. The rest of the Western Conference field is tightly packed, with a whole slew of dangerous floaters.
The Warriors were almost flawless at home this season, losing just two of their 41 home dates. On the road, they weren't as efficient with a 28-13 record, but it's still the league's best record on the road. Without a doubt the Warriors are the best team in the NBA this season, finishing with a league leading 67-15 record and a high of .817, well ahead of the Hawks (second), Rockets (third) and so on. More importantly, they are a county mile ahead of the Cavaliers in the table, who finished the season with a 53-29 record and a .646. Yet, they are the second overall favourites to win it all at +250, a smidgen behind the Cavaliers. Two words: LeBron James. That's the difference.
In any event, looking at just the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the Warriors should advance in straightforward fashion. The New Orleans Pelicans barely strike an audible chord in any of the NBA betting markets. The Pelicans simply don't have the depth or strength to challenge the Warriors.
