With their last game combined 205 total points is a little bit surprising to see odds makers set this game on the total between New Orleans and Dallas over 210.

NBA odds
NBA Odds makers right now have this game at 211 across the board for the total. At Heritage Sports you can get over this total at some decently low juice at -105. For one of my NBA Picks today I like for both of these teams to get up and down the floor so I will be backing the over.

Dallas Mavericks
Dallas comes in averaging 99 points per game, 42.2% shooting from the field, and 31.2% shooting from distance. They do like to run some up-tempo and they rank 12th in the NBA at 86.8 field goal attempts per game. They also rank eighth at 26.2 shots per game from beyond the arc. They should be able to score against a New Orleans team that focuses more on offense than they do defense.

Defensively Dallas is allowing 100 points per game, 43.2% shooting from the field, and 27.3% shooting from beyond the arc. They rank second in the NBA in opponent three point percentages and for this game to go under they will have to continue that stellar statistic, but I think the Pelicans will have some success from beyond the arc because they do move the ball well and have had some rest are. Dallas has done a decent job defensively in some categories but overall they are team that will be more than happy to run the floor.

New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans offensively is averaging 102.7 points per game, shooting 43.1% from the field, and 33.5% from beyond the arc. For not having won a game this year they've actually played decent on the offensive end. With Alvin Gentry as head coach you know they are going to try and push tempo as much as possible and put up a lot of shots averaging 89 field goal attempts per game which ranks sixth in the NBA. After having two days rest to situate some things look for them to have a big night on this end of the floor.

Defensively New Orleans allowing 114.7 points per game, 48.9% shooting from the field, and 40.6% shooting from beyond the arc. It is been a rough go for them on the defensive end but they have faced some pretty stiff competition so far. Still, the foundation of this team is how efficient they can be offensively and not being a defensive minded team first and foremost. The offense is there but for them to have a successful season from this point forward they're going to have to play some defense. Tonight I don't expect them to have changed things all that much in just two days and for Dallas to go ahead and score right along with New Orleans.

This has track meet written all over it. When New Orleans gets all its players back they should start to have some more success on the floor. But they've got to do things better on the defensive end in my opinion. For one of your NBA Picks I recommend backing the over in this game and expect for both these teams to consistently get up and down the floor and put up a lot of shots.

NBA Picks: Maverivs & Pelicans OVER 210.5 at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882572, "sportsbooksIds":[93,1096,19,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
