Knicks vs. Raptors
With only a few games remaining, the Knicks’ playoff chances are slipping away. Tonight their task is a tough one, as they head into Toronto to play the Raptors. Toronto still has to keep up the pace to hold onto the much sought after 3rd seed, and they are solid -5 favorites in the NBA Odds tonight.
However I don’t think the spread is a great wager. I could make the case for both of these teams to cover the five point spread, but the total of 192 looks to be a much safer play, and even a better value. The total has dropped two full points since it opened at 194, and at 192, it looks primed for an over bet.
The last time these two teams played one another, the total soared over to a final score of 115-100. I could easily see another game that is up in pace. The Raptors play solid defense, but against the Knicks, solid defense might not be enough to stop a motivated Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks only need to get into the mid 90s for this total to go over, and even on the road, it’s very believable.
The over has cashed in four of the last five times these two teams have played one another, and because of this, 192 is undervalued. The over has cashed in 14 of the last 21 road games for the Knicks, and six of the last seven home games for Toronto. The over has also cashed in four of Toronto’s last five overall, and in their last ten games they have scored 102 points per game.
My Pick: OVER 192
Bobcats vs. Celtics
Charlotte is heading to the playoffs, and with only their desire to give the dying Bobcats name one last chance at remembrance, they face off against the Celtics tonight with a higher seed on the line. The NBA Odds have the Cats as -5 road favorites, with a total of 193 ½. The Cats currently hold the 6th seed, though they are tied with the Wizards. A win here could go a very long way in the standings, although the Wizards have an easy road game in Orlando tonight.
Charlotte has been undervalued all season, and they have reaped massive profits in their NBA Odds. They are once again undervalued tonight, and as -5 favorites, I’m laying the points. The Bobcats are 3-1 ATS this season when playing as road favorites, and with the potential to hang onto the 6th seed, and a winning record on the line, this is a big game for Charlotte.
The Celtics are only 1-5 ATS in their last six games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine, and they are only 8-13-2 ATS this season as a home underdog. Charlotte has a huge advantage in the paint against Boston, and even with Rajon Rondo playing for Boston, it won’t be enough to cover at home against a superior Cats team. Charlotte’s defense is still wildly undervalued, so jump onto the profit train for one of the last rides this regular season.
My Pick: Bobcats -5
