There are several intriguing NBA Odds out tonight on this Friday evening, and I have chosen a couple of early game totals that should really have some value tonight.
Raptors vs. Wizards
Both of these teams are extremely undervalued on the defensive end, and I think it will show tonight in this game. The NBA Odds have the Wizards as a -3 favorite, but the total of 194 seems like a much better wager. These two teams are both in the top third of the league in points allowed this season, and I think it will show tonight.
These two met once already this season, and the final score ended up being 96-88, easily cashing the under. I could see another defensive style game tonight between these two teams. The under has now cashed in five of the last six times they have played one another overall.
The Raptors have gotten better defensively since the Rudy Gay trade, and it has shown in some of their most recent games. With the exception of a game where they gave up 100 to the Knicks, (which they won) the Raptors have held their last three opponents to less than 83 points per game. Also, their defense travels. Five of their last seven road games have gone under, as have four of the last six home games for Washington.
In their last three games overall, the Wizards have also been clamping down. Opponents have only averaged 89 points per game over those last three games, and going up against the 7th ranked road defense, look for this game to barely get out of the high 80s tonight, let alone go over 194.
My Pick: UNDER 194
Pelicans vs. Celtics
After playing last night and getting beat down in Chicago, the Celtics travel back home tonight to welcome in the Pelicans. The NBA Odds have Boston as a +3 home underdog tonight, with a total of 200 points. Once again, I see the spread as a wash, but the total seems ripe for another under bet in our NBA picks.
Boston has been on a nice under streak recently. Including last night, the under has cashed in six of the last nine games for Boston overall, and it has also cashed in eight of the last nine times these two teams have played. Granted, they don’t play one another often, however if you look back on the past games played between these two, the final scores were almost always still in the 80s for at least on team. I could see a long term trend like that continuing in Boston tonight.
With the Celtics tired coming off of the back to back travel night, the Pelicans will likely be able to improve on their 107 points per game given up on the road average. I doubt Boston is able to go nuts offensively, considering over their last five games the Celtics are shooting only 42% from the floor, and averaging just under 91 points per game.
These two teams matchup pretty well with one another, and despite the Pelicans’ ability to get hot quickly, I don’t see it tonight against the Celtics. Even though they are probably tired, they should still play solid defense tonight.
My Pick: UNDER 200
