NBA Picks of the day
Let’s take a look at just a couple of games that I have highlighted for our NBA picks, and see if they hold value here at the end of the work week.
Knicks vs. Bobcats
The shorthanded Knicks welcome the Bobcats to town here tonight, and even with all their injuries, the Knicks come in as -13 ½ favorites in this one, with a total of 197 still from the overnight lines. With all their injuries, I don’t quite think -13 ½ has any value in laying the points, however the total does seem to have some more value here tonight.
At 197, I think this game could go over tonight. The Knicks have been on an outstanding offensive run here lately, as they have scored 100 or more points in four of their last five games, and they have currently won six games in a row SU, the longest current winning streak in the NBA.
The Bobcats on the other hand don’t score a lot on the road, but with likely no Tyson Chandler once again tonight, I think the small lineups for both teams will lead to a quicker game. When facing teams without an established big man threat, the Bobcats do well.
Plus, the meeting between these two recently was a higher scoring affair anyways. When these two played each other back in December in Charlotte, the Knicks barely escaped with a two point victory, 100-98. Tonight, I think we’ll see an even higher score.
The Knicks have cashed the over in four of their last five games overall, and four of their last five games at home. Tonight against a bad defensive squad, the Knicks should be able to score around 110 points against a defense that routinely gives up 104 points per game or more on the road.
My Pick: OVER 197
Nets vs. Nuggets
This one should be one of the better games this evening, as the Nets try and continue their solid play on their rodeo road trip. This time they have to go play the Nuggets in Denver, one of the toughest if not the toughest place to play in the NBA.
The NBA Odds for this one favor the Nuggets at -6 ½, which is a pretty large number considering how well the Nets have been playing. However, I’m more focused on the total this evening, which sits right at 204 points.
The Nets have been on an offensive tear here recently, which has led to their nice winning on the road. On this current road trip, (their last five games overall) the Nets have been averaging 108 points per game, nearly 12 points better than their overall season average. Take that into Denver where they regularly score 108 points at home and give up 102, I’m all over the over tonight.
The last four times in a row these two have played one another, the total has gone over. On top of that, six out of the last seven times they have played, the total has gone over. I’m looking for another high scoring affair tonight, as both teams should be well into the 100s, making the over the bet once again.
My Pick: OVER 204 at 5dimes[gameodds]5/223317/92-43-19-999996/us[/gameodds]
