We’ve had an up and down week so far here to start off the brief NBA betting month of April, and with only a few weeks left in the regular season, we need to start making every pick count.
There are several games on tap for Friday night, and I’m seeing some value in a few of the lines. Let’s take a brief look at each of them and decide whether any of them are worth backing with our NBA picks.
Cavs vs. Celtics
A couple of big names have or are making their return to the lineup for their respective teams in this game, and I think both will have an effect. Kyrie Irving made it back the other day, however it was reported that he is still playing with a sprained AC joint. He only shot 5/16 against the Nets the other day, and now against a solid defensive team like Boston, I don’t think he has a very productive game.
Kevin Garnett looks ready to return to action this evening after missing the C’s last few weeks worth of games. His return couldn’t come soon enough for Boston, who is trying to hold off the Bucks for the 7th seed, and the honor of not having to play Miami in the first round.
For tonight, the NBA Odds favor Boston in this spot at home by -6, with an over/under of 202 points. I’m staying away from the total in this one, and siding with the Celtics only laying six points. With the return of Garnett tonight, I think they are just a bit undervalued at home here.
Boston has covered three of the last four meetings between these two from Boston, and the Cavs are 1-4 ATS in their last five trips there. With Cleveland’s awful road defense on full display tonight, I see Boston winning by nine or more. Lay the points.
My NBA Pick: Celtics -6
Grizzlies vs. Lakers
One of my favorite games of the evening is the Grizzlies heading into LA to play the Lakers tonight. We are still working off the loan overnight line for this one, but the Grizzlies come in as a +2 ½ underdog, with a total of 194. I’m going an interesting route with this one this evening, as I’m siding with Memphis and I’m taking the over.
I don’t see any reason why Memphis is so undervalued in this spot. They have won and covered their last three meetings overall against the Lakers, and the last four times these two have met overall, the total has gone over.
Tonight, the Lakers will of course be without Metta World Peace again, and probably still without Steve Nash. The Grizzlies are healthy and ready for the post season, and they need to keep pace in the West. I see Memphis turning up the heat against the Lakers in this spot and scoring the ball well tonight. LA is still giving up 101 points per game overall and 98 per game at home.
I think the total is close, but I still like the underdog to cash while the total goes over. Memphis is just too strong. The Grizz are 22-15 ATS on the road this season, and in their last ten games against one another, the average score was around 200 points.
My NBA Picks: Grizzlies +2 ½ and OVER 194
