Welcome to the first day of February! We have 24 teams going for a win tonight in the NBA, and a lot of people going for cash. With the exception of just a few, the NBA Odds are ripe and ready for action.

NBA Picks of the day

Heat vs. Pacers

The Pacers beat the Heat earlier this season in Indiana already, in an ugly defensive game. Will tonight be any different? The Heat are favored by -2 ½, with a total of 182 ½ on the NBA odds boards. As much as I’d like to bet the Heat, I see the total having more value. Even though both teams will have to eclipse 90 points and then some, this time around is going to be an offensive battle.

Now that the season is well into its second half for most teams, legs are starting to get tired, which means defense starts to lack first. Even though the Heat and Pacers can turn on their defense at any time, a regular season game in February isn’t the time. I think both of these teams will be focused more on scoring. In the final three playoff games these two played against one another in 2012, all three went over. Expect this game to go similarly.

My NBA Pick: OVER 182 ½

Mavs vs. Suns

Dallas lost a tough one in Golden State last night, and now are +2 ½ underdogs in Phoenix for tonight. Dirk Nowitzki came down with a right abductor sprain and sat down. No word on his status for tonight has been announced as of this morning, but I can bet that if he suddenly missed last night’s game, his chances for tonight aren’t great.

With the doubt surrounding Nowitzki, and the Mavs playing a tough game last night on the road, I can’t help but like Phoenix in this one. Goran Dragic is a little banged up, while Marcin Gortat also missed yesterday’s practice with illness. As long as both of those guys play, lay the -2 ½ points with the Suns. Check the news after their morning shoot around for the 6:00 PM PST start before making your NBA Picks on this one.

My NBA Pick: Suns -2 ½ (As long as Dragic and Gortat play)
