It seems that when Memphis plays on the road and against an up-tempo team, it tends to push the total 'over.' They Grizzlies went 'over' in their last game against the Rockets and now in Houston on Friday, the 'over' is looking great again.

The Grizzlies have been an amazing story this season, but so have the Rockets in many respects. They both look like they have the potential to play spoiler in the Warriors’ quest for a third straight NBA Finals appearance, and now Memphis and Houston play one another as the Rockets are -7 favorites on NBA odds.

The Rockets might be slightly overvalued in the spread, but the value on this one is on the total of 214½. Even though it has gone down slightly since it opened, I think it’s going in the wrong direction.

The first time these two teams played one another, Memphis dropped won 115-109. It seems like David Fizdale seems to have no problem letting his guys play fast as long as the defense doesn’t suffer.

If that continues and we see an up-tempo game, I really like the 'over' here. The Rockets have averaged nearly 117 points per game at home this season, and Memphis allows nearly six points more per game when it is playing away from Beale Street.

This has led to the Grizzlies going 'over' the total at 14-6 on the road this season. The 'over' has cashed in these two teams' last three meetings, and with Memphis’ defense allowing 106.4 points over their last five it's an easy call here.
