The NBA Odds have the Warriors as a -15 ½ favorite in this one, with a total of 221 ½. Will New York hang with Golden State, or will the Warriors run away from this one in the first three quarters?

Will Knicks’ Rest Mean Much?
After their low scoring affair with the Lakers a few nights ago, the Knicks have had two full days of rest to get prepared for this game. While that can help some teams get their legs rested or healthy, it can also be a death sentence for some teams. New York is kind of in the middle when it comes to that. They are 5-4 cashing the under when they have 2-3 days off in between games this season, and they are 5-4 against the NBA odds boards in those nine games as well.

The Warriors on the other hand are finalizing a five-game home stand tonight before going out on the road again, and while that isn’t too significant to our play this evening, it is worth noting that the Warriors have been very good over this home stand, especially on offense. The Dubs have dropped at least 123 points in their last three home games, and they have played very well during their recent home stand in the first half. On the year, the Warriors are averaging about 59 points in the first half of their home games, and in their last six home games they have been even better than that, scoring about 62 points in the first half of those games.

Tonight against the Knicks, while they don’t play at a very fast pace, the Knicks do tend to play up in pace to their opponents if they are pushing the pace. For instance, in their recent game against the Suns, the Knicks played at a pace of 94.1. A night before that they played at a pace of 97 against the Nuggets, so when it comes to road games against faster teams, the Knicks also tend to score more in the first half as well.

In their last four road games, all against pretty fast teams, the Knicks are averaging 56 points per first half. Now against the fastest paced team in the league, as well as the best offensive team in the NBA, not only are the Knicks about to give up a ton of points in the first half, they might be able to score a lot as well.

The Sharp Pick
With all that being said, the Knicks and Warriors have a first half total of 114 tonight?, and I am going over on it. The Knicks are averaging about 50 points per first half this season when playing on the road, and as I mentioned above, recently they have been even better than that. It’s likely most people won’t recognize this considering the Knicks have cashed the under in their full game total in eight of their last nine games heading into tonight.

With Kristaps Porzingis looking probable tonight for the Knicks, which just adds another shooting to the mix. Even though he will have to go against Draymond Green tonight, the longer and much taller Porzingis should have no trouble shooting over Green, who is giving up about nine inches to Porzingis.

Even if Green takes his turns on Carmelo Anthony tonight, that will leave Porzingis against a weaker defender. As long as the Knicks can get some production outside of Anthony tonight, especially in the first half, look for the first half total to go over tonight as your NBA picks.
