Charlotte came out with a must win in game three against the Heat while neither team shot particularly well.  We are going to look at the total for this game for our NBA Picks, so join in!

The NBA Odds have set the total for this game at 195.5 like at Pinnacle Sports at -105. With both teams shooting so poorly last game I don’t anticipate them repeating that performance so for one of my NBA picks I am going to back over the total.

Miami Heat
In games one and two the Heat shot over 57% overall but only 34% in game three going 27-79 from the floor. Their shooting was atrocious but two things really stood out in that game despite that aspect, one being turnovers and the other points in the paint. Miami had 14 turnovers compared to just three by Charlotte and only 28 points in the paint compared to 52 by the Hornets.

All around they just played a terrible basketball game and I don’t expect them to be held down to such terrible numbers in game four. On the season Miami did not push a lot of tempo but they did shoot 47% from the floor and averaged 46 points in the paint both of which ranked them fourth in the NBA. They also ranked in the top ten in efficiency and effective field goal percentage.

I am anticipating for this veteran team to come into game four more acclimated to the environment with a good game plan on both ends of the floor. Expect a lot more production from the Heat tonight which will help in getting over the total.

Charlotte Hornets
In game three Charlotte shot just 39% from the floor but they got up 90 attempts, well over their season average. They did not shoot the three particularly well but they were excellent at the line going 21-22 from the charity stripe. Today I anticipate them trying to keep pushing the tempo like they did in game three in order to get Miami a bit out of their comfort zone.

On the season the Heat averaged allowing just 84 shots per game which ranked them in the middle of the league but Charlotte found success in getting things to more of their type of pace getting up those 90 attempts. Surprisingly the Hornets only got up 18 shots from distance which was well below their 29 per game average ranking them fourth in the NBA.

Along with getting to the tempo they like I believe they will be better from distance and continue being able to score against a good Miami defense. Look for both of these teams to have a much better offensive night tonight in Charlotte with the Hornets dictating the pace.
