One of the earlier NBA Odds tonight is between two teams who could potentially meet in the playoffs if the seeding comes down right, and while it’s their fourth meeting this season, the Bulls will be going for the series sweep tonight. Should the Bulls make out NBA Picks tonight?
Waiting in the wings
Chicago was written off by almost everyone once Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler went down right around the same time, but even without two of their best three players, as well as injuries to several other players, the Bulls have weathered the storm, and with only ten games to go including tonight’s, the Bulls are 3rd in the East, and have already locked up a playoff spot. If they win tonight, they’ll stretch their lead over the Raptors to 1 ½ games for that 3rd seed.
But do the Bulls really want the 3rd seed? A third seed would mean a first round matchup against likely the young and scrappy Bucks, and then most likely a second round date with Lebron James and the Cavs. Knowing the Bulls, they are going for the highest seed possible, and with Butler back and Rose getting closer by the day to coming back from his recent injury, the Bulls might be better served to lose this game and try for the 4th seed.
A fourth seed would still guarantee them a home round one, probably against the struggling Wizards, and then a road series against the Hawks. The Bulls matchup much better against those two than they do against the Bucks and Cavs, but either way tonight I see the Bulls trying to win this one, and then starting to rest their guys later in the regular season.
The Sharp Pick
Tonight that means I am following my roots and taking the Bulls tonight in the NBA odds. Not only have the Bulls won and covered all three meetings against the Raptors this season, they have won their last three games both SU and ATS at Air Canada Center. On top of that, the Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as favorites, and with Butler back and one important Raptor possibly out tonight, it looks like a nice night to pick the Bulls.
After playing last night the Raptors should be tired, but more importantly, Kyle Lowry left the game with back spasms, and said that he is going to not rush back from this. It seems as if the Raptors don’t want to play the Cavs either in a potential second round matchup! Without Lowry tonight, Butler is going to stick onto DeMar DeRozan this evening, and the Raptors will be left with little help on offense if Lowry indeed misses.
Toronto is only 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, and true to their entire season, they are only 1-8 ATS in their last nine games against teams with winning SU records. Try as they might, the Raptors simply aren’t on the level with Chicago, especially if Lowry can’t go tonight, so back the bulls with your NBA picks.
