With CP3’s status day to day and a season long 8 game road trip staring them in the face, the L.A. Clippers are encountering their biggest test of the season. Should we back them with our sports picks?

Tonight, they face a Minnesota Timberwolves (17-24) team that are still trying to find the best fit without Kevin Love. Can the Clips capitalize and cover the NBA odds that the books have set forth?

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm ET tonight at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

5 Dimes Sportsbook currently lists the Clippers as a 5 point betting favorite and the total is 190.

We know that the Clippers are the better team; Do you have confidence enough to make them your NBA pick in this game? Let’s find out.

Bounce Back Performance

The Clippers played a back to back with Portland and had a real shot at pulling out both games but will have to settle for 1-1. All in all, not bad without Chris Paul in the lineup.

The Clippers suffered a 1 point loss at the Rose Garden and then destroyed a very good Blazers team at the Staples Center.

Back to Rookie Form

Sometimes, there’s just not enough of the basketball to go around. With the edition of Chris Paul to the Clippers, Blake Griffin had to adjust his game and the numbers suffered. That said, Paul made this team a top contender and the best team in Los Angeles.

With Chris Paul out, Blake Griffin has become the offense for now. When CP3 returns, Blake will have to readjust his game. For now, the Clippers desperately need the “20-10” that Griffin has to offer them every game. Maybe a bit overrated, but Blake Griffin is a definite asset as a big man for any NBA team and should give the Wolves trouble.

Reality TV Star or NBA Player?

It’s amazing of the drop in Lamar Odom’s game since he’s become a reality television personality. It seems like ever since Odom was snubbed as an all-star while having his best season with the Lakers, he hasn’t been the same since.

This is the typical snowball effect. Trade talks, the Dallas move, family tragedy, and back to California with his extended family; Where do Lamar Odom’s priorities lie?

Lately, Odom has decided to concentrate on just giving effort without being put on the spot. He plays his 20 minutes and gives his team 10 rebounds on occasion. This seems to be good enough on such a good team. Look for Odom to come off of the bench and keep providing tough defense against Minny.

Ricky Rubio’s career has seemed taken a turn for the worst since his injuries began, but Luke Ridnour has gotten more opportunities and has taken advantage of them.

With big men Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic out of action, the Timberwolves have become the Ridnour-Kirilenko show.  While Andrei Kirilenko is a multi-faceted talent, point guard, Luke Ridnour, is the best suited member of the Timberwolves to put the ball in the hoop.

Ridnour is coming off of a huge 22 point, 7 assist, and 7 rebound effort in a disappointing 1 point loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. In this game, the class of opponent has increased drastically. Look for Ridnour to top the 20 point plateau for a 2nd consecutive game.

Head to Head

Road team is 14-3 ATS in the last 17 games

Clippers are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings

Underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings

Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meeting in Minnesota

Look for this game to be right around the point spread. Everything points to the Clippers, but the Timberwolves are a spunky team. Look for Luke Ridnour and company to keep this game close.
