The Los Angeles Clippers haven’t covered the spread in five opportunities after scoring 85 points or less in their previous game this season.

Now they prepare to continue their best-of-seven series against the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday.

Let’s take a closer look at the NBA betting odds for Game 4 of this Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series, with the opening tip scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET at FedExForum on TNT.

Shut down

Los Angeles owns a 2-1 series advantage heading into this affair, but it suffered a 94-82 defeat as 4.5-point road underdogs Thursday, while going UNDER the total of 178.5. Clippers point guard Chris Paul was limited to eight points and four assists in the affair.

NBA handicappers will find that the Clippers are 1-4 straight up (SU) and 0-5 against the spread (ATS) after scoring 85 points or less dating back to the start of the regular season, while the OVER is 4-1 in that situation.

Randolph is the key

Memphis power forward Zach Randolph led the NBA in total offensive rebounds during the 2012-13 campaign, which came into play last time out, as he finished with 27 points and 11 boards in Game 3.

The winning team has won the battle of the boards in all three games in this best-of-seven series, with the Grizzlies finishing with a dominating 45-33 edge in rebounding along with a 22-4 scoring difference on second-chance points Thursday.

It’s important to point out that Memphis and Los Angeles ranked first and second respectively in allowing the fewest rebounds, with opponents averaging 39.07 and 39.10 per game

Solid betting trend

The Grizzlies have compiled a 20-11 ATS record in their last 31 opportunities as a home favorite of 3.5 to 6 points, including covers in eight of 10 tries dating back to the start of the 2012-13 regular season.

Total bettors will also be interested in knowing that the UNDER has cashed in each of the last five meetings in Memphis

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Grizzlies as one of their  playoff NBA picks Saturday, as they’ve gone 4-2-1 ATS when trailing in a playoff series the last two-plus seasons, while the Clippers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games versus winning teams.
