Dallas is in the hunt in the West so I doubt they are going to just let the Clippers come in and steal a win. Will the Mavericks protect their home floor or will the Clippers notch a road win?

NBA odds experts have made the Clippers a -5 favorite like at BetOnline -110. Although it might seem a bit tempting to back the Mavs at home for one of my NBA picks I am going to take the Clippers minus the small number. Going away and coming back home like Dallas is doing is never easy and Los Angeles is playing very good basketball the last two months.

Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers are averaging 104.8 points per game, rank fourth in the NBA in effective field goal percentage, and have not lost two games in a row since December. Without Blake Griffin the dynamics of this team has changed quite a bit but it has been beneficial for them spreading the floor and moving the ball. Los Angeles ranks in the bottom of the league in points in the paint, and without surprise, free throw shooting percentage. However, they rank fifth, sixth, and 7th in two point, three point, and overall shooting percentage respectively. What has really stood out though is that despite their development offensively they have lost nothing on the defensive side ranking second and third in the NBA in opponent two point and overall shooting percentage. Doc Rivers has done a really nice job with this team and I believe they catch Dallas in a great spot to get the road victory.

Dallas Mavericks
Dallas averages 102.5 points per game but they rank 17th in the league in opponent shooting efficiency and opponent effective field goal percentage. Dallas has done a nice job finding ways to win but tonight might be pretty tough returning home after what was a tough loss in Denver. Offensively they rank 12th in the league in shooting efficiency and effective field goal percentage but there is nothing they do particularly well beyond putting and making a decent amount of threes ranking sixth in both shots attempted and made from beyond the arc.  Defensively they allow too many opportunities ranking 23rd in opponent field goals attempted per game and they rank in the bottom third of the league in all opponent shooting percentage categories. They do rank 12th in the league in opponent points in the paint but that will not be the point of contention tonight against a Clippers team that moves the ball very well and can score from all around.  Home court advantage won’t be enough tonight for the Mavs when we consider the matchups and situation. There is a reason they are the home dog in this spot.
