The NBA preseason continues as the Bulls host the world champion Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. Let’s check out this matchup and decide which side to include in our NBA picks.

Cavaliers (2-2) vs. Bulls (1-2) 8:05 PM ET

The Cavaliers got thumped in their last outing when they welcomed Toronto to the Quicken Loans Arena and were handed an 119-94 defeat. Kevin Love led the way with 19 points in 25 minutes while head coach Tyronn Lue kept his superstar LeBron James from playing in this one. Speaking of DNP’s, it has been reported that the Cavs will forego suiting up Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and again LeBron for this evening’s tip off in the Windy City. Therefore, the world champs that you know and love will look nothing like the team that won the title in June, tonight. Channing Frye is also going to miss this one with an ankle sprain.

The Chicago Bulls were movers and shakers in the offseason after failing to make the playoff last season, despite making it to the conference semifinals the year before (and losing to Cleveland by the way). The Bulls’ brain trust went out and signed Dwyane Wade, Rajon Rondo, and Robin Lopez to reinject some life into the Chicago franchise. Mike Dunleavy was a casualty of the signings as he was moved to the Cavs to create space for the new influx of talent.

Chicago dropped their first two preseason games, getting narrowly edged by the Bucks 93-91 at home before traveling to Indiana and suffering an 115-108 setback to the Pacers. But in their last contest, played almost a week ago at home, the Bulls got their revenge on Indiana with a 121-105 victory.

Here are your projected starters for tonight’s game:

F Dahntay Jones (4.5 ppg; 2.5 rpg; 1.0 apg)
F James Jones (9.5 ppg; 6.3 rpg; 2.5 apg)
C Cory Jefferson (9.0 ppg; 9.0 rpg; 0.3 apg)
G Jordan McRae (14.5 ppg; 4.0 rpg; 3.8 apg)
G Kay Felder (11.0 ppg; 2.7 rpg; 3.7 apg)

F Jimmy Butler (10.7 ppg; 2.3 rpg; 3.3 apg)
F Bobby Portis (5.0 ppg; 7.0 rpg; 1.7 apg)
C Robin Lopez (7.7 ppg; 3.0 rpg; 0.3 apg)
G Dwyane Wade (12.7 ppg; 2.3 rpg; 4.0 apg)
G Rajon Rondo (8.0 ppg; 5.5 rpg; 6.0 apg)

Looking at the starting lineups it appears as though the Cavs are content to give their backups a workout while the collective new talent of the Cavaliers gets desperately needed minutes to develop their team chemistry. This will be a big number across the board but we will go with the Bulls to get the blowout in our NBA picks tonight.
