Portland comes into this game a slight-2 favorite, with a total of 192. Which side should we be on to cash for our NBA picks?

NBA Picks: Celtics vs. Blazers

Sunday brings about another somewhat busy day for NBA betting in the Association, and one of those games is the Celtics heading out West to play the Blazers.

Bean town rollercoaster

This season for Celtics fans has been filled with emotions. Injuries, losing streaks and trade rumors have all swirled around them, which does take its toll. One minute it looks as if they could make it back to the Eastern Conference Finals, and the next minute, they look like a lottery team.

The team they are playing tonight is very similar. Boston has played well in the past against the Blazers, but without Rajon Rondo, trends this season have kind of fallen by the wayside with this club.

We can talk about their recent play, which is neither fantastic nor bad. Boston kicked off the month of February with five straight wins SU, but since then they have gone 2-5 SU and 3-2 ATS. Tonight, the Celtics will have to take advantage of the sub-par Portland defense. Portland is giving up 100 points per game this season, and during this bad streak they are on, they have given up an average of 109 points per game.

It’s good to be home

Every team has a circus road trip during the season, and not many teams come out of it in better shape. In the Blazers case, they came out a lot worse. Portland’s rodeo road trip basically sealed their fate outside of the playoffs, as Portland has lost seven games in a row SU. However, despite being only 2-8 SU in the month of February so far, being back a home should help this team tremendously.

The Blazers had the day off yesterday to recover from their long trip, and being back at home will do nothing but good things for Portland. The Blazers are much better both SU and ATS when playing at home this season, and with the way they are playing defense right now, they are going to need all the help they can get.

The Sharp Pick

Kevin Garnett sat the Celtics’ last game due to rest, so he should be healthy and rested fully for this game tonight in Portland. As I mentioned above, the Celtics have owned the Blazers in their recent history, winning six in a row SU against them, and covering in four of their last five games against Portland.

However, the spread is off limits for me for a couple of reasons. Firstly is because this will be Boston’s first game against the Blazers without Rondo. Secondly is because event though the Blazers are on an incredible losing streak, things can turn around very quickly when you’re back home from a long trip.

Instead of siding with either the spread or total, I’m going with Boston’s team total tonight, which should settle down around 95 points tonight. Even though the last few times these two have played the total has gone over, tonight I’m siding with Boston to go over the total.

With how bad the Blazers have been playing defense recently, I see no reason why Boston can’t come in and score more than 95 points tonight. Besides their ugly 12 round fight against the Bulls this month, the Celtics have been scoring the ball well. Boston is averaging over 102 points per game this month without that game included, and with it, they are still averaging right at 100 points per game in February.

With Portland’s failing defense, take the Celtics to score over 95 points for your NBA Picks.
