NBA Playoff Series Odds: Celtics vs. Knicks
This could quite possibly be the most underrated and undervalued series in the entire first round of the playoffs. Boston and New York will tip off on Saturday afternoon, and there are plenty of storylines that should make the NBA odds and the series itself a good one.
Before placing your bets, let SBR's 'NBA Series Betting Prices: Sportsbook Futures Comparison' help you find the best NBA odds on offer.
To start it off, the battle between Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce should be as good as ever. Both have the amazing ability to get up for big games, and I see more than one 40 + point game from each of these guys sometime in this series, which should go upwards of six or seven games. The Knicks are a bit banged up right now, and Boston has shown that no matter the game, they will be in it until the end on most nights.
It’s all about the trainers and medical reports for the Knicks at this point. It seems almost certain that Amare Stoudemire will not be back in any form at least during this series, so the Knicks will need to rely more heavily on Anthony, as well as Tyson Chandler and the rest of the banged up big men for the Knicks. Although almost every player the Knicks have that is over 6’9 has sat out the last few weeks, so it will be interesting if they can be relied on to jump right back in the game and not have any rust. Looks more and more like the Carmelo show is about to hit us.
Without Rajon Rondo, the Celtics are going to have to be an even more precise and complete basketball team if they want a shot at beating the Knicks. Their defense will have to be spot on, and Pierce and Kevin Garnett will have to have 2005 flashbacks at multiple points. Can they do it? Absolutely. However it’s going to be tough and they are going to have to play almost perfect basketball.
The Knicks come into this series price as a strong -460, where the Celtics are priced at +375 to beat the Knicks. In Game 1 of the series, which is set for Saturday evening, the Knicks are a -7 ½ favorite with a total of 192 ½.
The Sharp Pick
Obviously I’m laying off the Knicks for my NBA picks right now, but I am intrigued at the fact that the Celtics are almost 4/1 dogs. I think this series might be a little closer than that, however I also think that the books are trying to get people to lay with the Knicks. I would not be opposed at putting a unit down on the Celtics to win this series. There is still a huge health question surrounding the Knicks.Play Boston at Bookmaker.eu
