In a sorry excuse for an NBA game tonight, the Cavs continue their west coast swing as they take on the Kings. Although it might be sloppy, that doesn't mean there isn't any value for your NBA picks.

Last night Cleveland got trounced by the struggling Lakers, and now on night two of a back to back, the NBA odds list Cleveland as a +5 ½ road underdog. While there are some great players on both sides, this probably won’t be a great game. So who should we back in a game like this?

Well the answer to that question is two-part. Part of the answer is that you have to work harder, but the other is to almost always lay off the spread. Games are now going to start to get a lot harder to handicap as the season gets longer. The books are getting smarter by the day, and teams are starting to get tired. We may see a lot more bad teams beating good teams pretty soon.

But both Cleveland and Sacramento are very young at their core and both aren’t very good. The Cavs are the third youngest team in the NBA and Sacramento’s core is very young as well. With that in mind, I like the over in this one at 203 ½. The line is starting to shift upward, so get in while you can, but even at 204 I still like the over.

Both of these teams give up over 100 points per game, and both are in the bottom 15% of the NBA in points allowed.  Even with Cleveland playing bad last night in LA, they still scored 93 points on a bad, but improving Lakers team. Tonight against the Kings, I think the Cavs will get right.

With young teams, back to backs always hurt defense more than offense. They might even score better on night two. The back to back doesn’t hurt their game like it does to older players, whose offense falls off sometimes on back to backs. Both teams have some electric offensive talent, and neither has the right personnel to stop one another.

I’m adding the over to my sports picks tonight, this should be a high scoring game.

NBA Pick: OVER 203 ½
