The Mavericks, who are playing tonight's game for playoff positioning, have everything to play for; the Spurs already classified. Will this be an easy win for Dallas? Check our NBA pick inside.

Tip-off is scheduled for tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. According to Bookmaker Sportsbook, the Mavs are a 4.5 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 187.5.

Don't underestimate the San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs lost their first home game of the season to Golden State as the Warriors look for the record, but I'm not phased, because I know that Spurs head coach, Gregg Popovich's ultimate goal is to win the NBA World Championship. Popovich has won 5 of them. He doesn''t care what place that he's in where the standings are concerned, just as long as San Antonio has a reservation for the post-season.

Popovich will be playing all reserves in this game and that allows Dallas to be the 4.5 point home favorite in a game that means everything to them. The writing is on the wall. Dallas should win and cover the spread, but San Antonio has bench players such as Patty Mills, who are gamers, and you can never count the Spurs out of any game. Read ahead and find our NBA pick of the match.

J.J. Barea
We look at the Mavericks starters and every player will be out there, including enthusiastic owner, Marc Cuban. The Mavericks will rely heavily on J.J. Barea at the guard position as he has fit in really well since snatching the spot.

Numbers don't tell the story as  Barea is capable of lighting the Spurs up for 30 even though he's averaging just 10.9 points and 4.1 assists in slightly over 20 minutes per ball gameis season, coming off of the bench most of the time.

That said, aside from Dirk Nowitizki, Barea is the biggest "big game player" on this team and that's including Deron Williams. Ever since D. Will left Utah, we could all figure out that he wasn't going to be the superstar that he was touted as.

Using Nowitzki Wisely
At his age, the Mavericks have to monitor Dirk Nowitzki's time on the court. He can still go for 40 points, but in a game such as this, his services might not be needed if Gregg Popovich decides to basically throw the game.

If the Spurs give the Mavericks a difficult time, we could see a lot of Dirk in this game. I equate him to an old talented race horse. The last thing that Dallas head coach ,Rick Carlisle wants to do is burn Dirk out for the playoffs; this is vital for the NBA odds boards to raise in their favor.

Nowitzki leads the team at 18.3 points and 6.5 rebounds. He's still a stud and a first ballot hall of famer. Nowitzki won owner Marc Cuban a championship and Cuban has stated that Nowitzki will be a Dallas Maverick for life!

I would get into further detail, but I really think this game is set up so well for Dallas. 4.5 points at home isn't a lot to lay. If it was on the road, it would be a different story, but that's not the case.
