The Warriors are the favorite in this important game 4. It looks like they are going to be playing without Stephen Curry. Will Portland be able to even up the series? NBA picks inside.

NBA odds makers have made the Trailblazers a +5 underdog like at Bookmaker -115. Although the vig is a bit higher I like the value on a good home team in Portland to either take this game to the wire or pull off the upset. For one of my NBA picks I like how they matchup with the Curry-less Warriors.

Portland Trailblazers
In game three Portland shot 46.5% from the field and an incredible 56.7% from beyond the arc with Damian Lillard going for 40 points. We backed the Trailblazers in that game three and although it is tempting to think the Warriors will bounce back in game four I like how Portland matches up with them without Curry on the floor

In all three games they have hung with Golden State across the board statistically and they are very good at home. I doubt they will be as efficient from distance as they hit 17-30 from beyond the arc but that is two games in a row where they were able to get up 30 three point attempts which tells me they are getting the looks they want. They matched the Warriors on the glass 52-53 and they won the turnover battle 10-12 but they will have to do a better job defensively if they plan to win again as the Warriors shot well for the most part but simply did not get to the line that much and only hit 10-17 from there in the game.

Golden State Warriors
Golden State shot almost 48% in game three and over 48% from distance along with 29 assists in the loss. This play against them is really about not having the MVP of the league on the floor because it is obvious they are not the same team without him. However, despite the double digit loss I thought the Warriors played pretty well for the most part getting into the tempo they like and moving the ball extremely well.

Most likely they will look to change some things defensively to try and limit Lilliard, but like Curry even a great game plan is not a guarantee he won’t go for another stellar performance. What could be a little disconcerting is the fact that both Green and Thompson went for well over thirty points and they still lost pretty handedly. Most likely they will focus more on getting stops and forcing the ball out of the hands of Lilliard but if they continue to run at a fast tempo that will be to their detriment against a Portland team that loves to push the pace.
