I will personally be in attendance tonight, as Chicago comes into this game a +2 road underdog, with NBA odds makers listing the total at 186 points. With so many injuries to be concerned about going into this game for Chicago, will they be able to pull the upset in this game, or will the Wizards out hustle the Bulls for the win?
Banged Up Bulls
Chicago is of course going into this game planning on playing without Derrick Rose already, but they have also in the short term been without their All Star center Joakim Noah, who is once again dealing with foot issues that could keep him out of this game. If he misses another game here tonight, I really don’t like Chicago’s chances on the road against a Wizards team that has played pretty good basketball over the last month or two.
Chicago is also dealing with injuries to two of their three shooting guards, Rip Hamilton and Marco Belenelli, who both look out for this game here tonight. Chicago is no stranger to being shorthanded this season. In fact they haven’t played with their complete starting lineup almost all season.
The key tonight for Chicago will be defense, as it normally is. Washington normally plays solid defense when in DC, and the Bulls will just have to out play them on that end. Chicago is good enough to slow down a John Wall led Wizards offense, mainly because there aren’t really any other Wizards that need stopping.
Wizards ATS kings
Washington has one of the better home ATS records of any team in the NBA this season, so being favored by only -2 against a potentially very shorthanded Bulls team is either a trap or money in the bank. I’m one to think that it could be a trap, because the Bulls are still the better offensive and defensive team, even if Noah sits again.
Although the Wizards have been playing better recently, it has all revolved around the play of John Wall. Wall has put up an outstanding month of March, and he just kept getting better. Wall will be the may focus tonight for the Bulls, who will have to throw a lot of different defenders his way in order to effectively stop him. Wall missed the first meeting between these two, but he played well in their meeting in late January from DC. Even though they have that on their side, this is a different game.
The Sharp Pick
Because this is a different game and because the Wizards aren’t without injury concerns of their own, I’m staying away from the low and very volatile spread and going with the total in this one. At 186 points, I think the under is giving us solid value for our NBA picks tonight. This game should be a defensive battle.
For starters, neither of these teams give up above 95 points per game, and with injuries to NeNe and Noah, that’s 15 points per game from each of them if they sit. As the season has worn on, these guys have gotten tired, and in this spot, I don’t see a high scoring game.
The under is on an incredible cashing streak between these two teams, and I don’t think that can be ignored in this spot. The under has cashed the last ten times these two have played one another in a row, including five out of the last five times they have played in DC. Ten times in a row! Need I say more? Take the under.
My Pick: UNDER 186
