The banged up Bulls head into Texas to play the Western Conference leading Spurs. With all of the injuries mounting up on both sides, the NBA Odds makers have decided to open the Spurs at -8, with a total of 191.5.
Once again, as you may have guessed from all of the other free picks that I have posted today, I am staying away from the spread and focusing my energies on the total. With Tony Parker still out for the Spurs, and Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Taj Gibson and Rip Hamilton all still out for the Bulls, the spread is way too unpredictable. However, with all the injuries, the total looks like great value.
This season when the Bulls play without Kirk Hinrich, they are 5-11 SU. On top of that, when Captain Kirk is not in the lineup, the Bulls average only 89 points per game this season. In fact, the Bulls have already played the Spurs once this season without Hinrich, and the Spurs steamrolled 103-89.
Now things should be different this evening as well with Tony Parker out. The Bulls will still be able to play some defense this evening, and I think the 'Under' is giving us some great value for our NBA picks. Without Parker and Hinrich to run the offenses, these two teams will put up a lot of misses this evening, as no one will be there to get anyone else easy shots. Shots will have to be created by themselves.
The over barely cashed between these two earlier in the season, but before that, the under had cashed in eight of these two’s last nine meetings overall. On top of that, the under has cashed in 9 of the Spurs’ last 13 home games, as well as five out of the last five times these two have played one another from San Antonio. I think we will see a sloppy game from both sides, with the final score something like 97-88, making the under my play for this evening.
