A battle of neighbors is set to take place this evening from the Palace at Auburn Hills, as the Pistons are set to host the Bucks this Tuesday evening. Where are we smart to look with our NBA picks in this battle?

The NBA Odds for this one favor the Pistons by -1 ½, with a total of just over 200 at 201 ½. Is Detroit’s solid play as of late enough to get the win and cover over the Bucks, or will Milwaukee use their talented backcourt to disrupt and confuse the Pistons into defeat?

Ersanity is back

Ersan Ilyasova was given a big 4-year deal from the Bucks front office, and up until this past week, has looked like the biggest bust of the season. However, after firing Scott Skiles, the Bucks’ interim coach has given Ilyasova more of a run, which has led to the Bucks getting a lot better.

Ilyasova has averaged 25.5 points and 12 rebounds per game in the Bucks last four games, they have gone 3-1 SU in that span, and have been scoring the ball with great efficiency. With Ilyasova back to doing what they signed him to do, this Bucks team is completely different from the one that started the season.

Tonight against the Pistons, Ilyasova will be huge, because at this point in his career, Tayshaun Prince is not going to be able to stop the Ernsanty train. Expect another big game from Ilyasova, and for it to have a serious effect on the final score. If Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings can get into the paint and disrupt the Pistons’ defense, the Bucks will get a big road win.

Detroit’s Pistons firing

The Pistons are putting together a solid January, a month where they have already beaten their opponent for this evening once. This will actually be the third time these two have played one another this season, and both times previous to tonight, the Pistons have won the game.

So will the Pistons be able to take the seasons series with Milwaukee tonight? I’m not so sure. The Pistons are still wildly inconsistent on the offensive end of the floor, where the Bucks are finally finding their consistency.

Detroit has played and beaten teams this month by double figures, then the next night they will go out and only score 82 points the next night. It’s the mark of a young team, and a team that I can’t bet on. When you have that much of an unknown, it is hard to recommend a wager. The Pistons are one of the up and coming teams in the Eastern Conference in the next few years, but making money on them ATS this season has been tough, especially when they play at home.

The Sharp Pick

I’m siding with the Bucks tonight for a few reasons. One, I’m not taking too much from Milwaukee’s first two losses to the Pistons this season. The first one was still with Skiles at the helm, and the second was right after Skiles was let go. Plus, losing three times in a row to any team in the NBA is tough to do, especially when it’s the Pistons.

Milwaukee is 13-8 ATS on the road this season, while the Pistons are only 10-13 ATS at home. Milwaukee has covered in four of their last six meetings with Detroit, (once this season) and even though the Bucks have not had much success period in Detroit, I think that changes at least for tonight.
