Although the Nets have a bad record I am happy to say there have been some glimpses of solid play from this team so I will back them tonight getting the points against the best team in the NBA.

NBA odds
Odds makers have made Golden State a -10 favorite like at Pinnacle Sports -105.  This is just too much with them coming off a back to back so for one of my NBA Picks I will take the Nets +10.  Although I doubt they win, I do think they keep this in single digits.

Golden State Warriors
Golden State comes in averaging 115.3 points per game, shooting 49.3% from the field, and 43.3% from beyond the arc. They are the best offensive team in the league hands-down according to the statistics and they have an unreal 57% effective field-goal percentage. We all know the players, and of course the most popular one in the league right now in Stephen Curry, so there simply isn't a lot to write about what everyone doesn't already know. But here is one thing, they have not played one of the better teams in the league on the road so far this season. In fact, until yesterday against the Toronto they had only played two teams on the road that had winning records, Memphis and the Clippers. So before we hand them the crown in December let's see them play on the road against Chicago, Cleveland, Indiana, Miami, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City.

Defensively the Warriors are allowing 99.9 points per game, 42.4% shooting from the field, and 30.1% from beyond the arc. Just like their offense their defense is one of the best in the league, and not to be too disparaging but the fact still is they have not faced one of the better teams in the league yet. They only rank 14th in the NBA in scoring defense so good teams will have opportunities to put up points against them.  I expect the Nets to put up enough points tonight keep this game from a blowout.

Brooklyn Nets
The Nets are averaging 95.4 points per game, shooting 44.1% for the field, and 29.6% from beyond the arc. They rely a lot on Brook Lopez who is having a fantastic season and the main contributor as to why they average 46.1 points in the paint per game, which ranks second in the NBA. I've been pleasantly surprised with Thaddeus Young and Jarrett Jack and as a team they have been able to put the ball in the bucket averaging 38.2 field goals per game which ranks seventh in the NBA. Also, Brooklyn comes in on a nice four game home winning streak beating some decent teams in Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and Phoenix.

Defensively Brooklyn is allowing 102.3 points per game, 45.5% shooting from the field, and 37.4% from beyond the arc. These are not good numbers at all but they have been decent at controlling tempo allowing just 83.9 opponent field-goal attempts per game which ranks 12th in the NBA. Last time facing the Warriors earlier this season they played their guts out sending the game to overtime, but more impressively was they held Golden State to only 44.3% shooting from the field, and 35.3% from distance. They should come in with some confidence knowing that they can hang with such a great team.

Don't let Brooklyn's record fool you, this is a well coached team that plays hard every night. They should be pumped to play the Warriors and they're coming off a game in New York in which they know they did not play well.  I think they should be extra motivated tonight for those two reasons. For one of your NBA picks I recommend taking the points with Brooklyn to battle Golden State and keep this game a lot closer than people anticipate.
