Even though the Bobcats get Miami on a back-to-back travel game, the NBA odds still list Charlotte as a +13 ½ underdog to the Heat. Will Miami be tired from their game yesterday afternoon in Toronto, or will they take care of business at home?
The good news for the Bobcats is they might be getting Byron Mullens back for this evening’s game against Miami. Mullens has missed over a month with a badly sprained and partially torn ligament in his ankle, so he will likely have a minimal or no affect on tonight’s game.
Miami was involved in a difficult battle in Canada yesterday, but ended up pulling away at the last second to get the cover and the win. My concern for tonight is that once again the Heat might not take Charlotte seriously. They toyed with the Raptors yesterday until late in the game, and a big point spread like this scares me. However, I still believe that the spread holds the best value for our NBA picks, just not for the full game.
Miami has covered their last three games against the Bobcats and five of their last seven against them as well. I’m not willing to risk it with tonight’s large number, but the first half looks inviting, as the Heat are only -7 favorites.
I don’t think Miami will be sluggish after playing at 2 PM EST yesterday. The Eastern Conference leaders should come out and start quick against the Bobcats in Miami. The Heat play a whole different brand of basketball when they are in front of their home fans.
My Pick: Heat -7 1H
