One of the oldest rivalries in NBA history will be renewed when the Celtics meet the Lakers on Sunday night. We have all you need to know in our NBA betting preview article on this contest which will conclude with an ATS selection.

Epic NBA Rivalry
Two of the most storied franchises in the NBA square off on Sunday when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Boston Celtics at 9:05 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds at Bookmaker, the Celtics are a 1.5 point favorite, and the posted total is 199.5.

Road Money
The Boston Celtics have been one of the most profitable NBA teams on the road this season, covering in 64% of their twenty-five away games. As a matter of fact, Boston has covered in eight of the last ten, and ten of their previous thirteen road games. Despite suffering a 109-101 loss at Sacramento on Friday, the Celtics have shown dramatic improvement on the defensive end of the floor of late, allowing 97-points or less in six of their last eight games. Boston enters tonight just 1.5 games behind Brooklyn for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

How the Mighty have Fallen
The Los Angeles Lakers once proud franchise has really hit rock bottom this season. They enter tonight with a dismal 13-41 record. The Lakers have lost seven in a row, dropped sixteen of the last seventeen, and have failed to cover in fourteen of those previous seventeen games. Since they lost Kobe Bryant to a season ending injury, the Lakers have really struggled offensively, scoring 97-points or less in fifteen of their previous twenty-one games. Their defensive play has been horrific during the past six games, allowing an average of 109.7 points per game, and opponents have shot 49.7% from the field.

NBA Betting Angle
These teams have met just once this season, and the Celtics were an easy 113-96 winner on their home floor. The Lakers enter tonight with a horrible .241 winning percentage in their 54-games this season. That result, and statistical fact, fits nicely into an ATS betting system which I’ll use as part of my arsenal for my NBA picks on Sunday.

Any road team (Celtics) that’s +3.0 to -3.0, versus an opponent (Lakers) which is playing with same season revenge stemming from a loss by ten points or more, and has a winning percentage of .250 or less, has seen that road team go 36-9 ATS (80%) during the past five seasons.

NBA Pick: Celtics -1.5 at Bookmaker.
